If you’re a fan of animated films, then you’ve probably watched many films from Disney and Pixar. If so, you aren’t alone. Both companies have been immensely successful in their own right.
Disney was founded in 1923 by Roy O. Walt Disney and his younger brother, Walt Disney. Since then, the company has opened several theme parks around the world and even its own university. To add to an already impressive resume, they purchased Pixar and Marvel in 2006 and 2009, respectively.
Even so, what Disney is undoubtedly known for are their films. But it’s Pixar’s groundbreaking animation studio that gives their films a sense of realism. What began as hand-drawn animation became computer-generated animation, all thanks to Pixar.
But because Pixar is now a subsidiary of Disney, we are not accustomed to seeing one without the other. In fact, the first film that they made together was the massive hit, Toy Story, in 1995.
Though it’s well known that the two have a rocky history, their accomplishments can’t be denied.
After numerous groundbreaking films, there is one that stands out among the others. Up is one of their most recognized and acclaimed films to date. It is a beloved and modern classic that has been nominated for 66 awards. Impressively, it won 38.
If you’ve watched the film, you know that it pulls at your heartstrings. The main character, Carl, loses his wife after being married for several years. The couple was unable to have children and decided to focus on going on a trip together.
Unfortunately, she passes away before they are able to achieve their dream. All of this happens within the first five minutes of the film and there isn’t any dialogue during this opening montage. Instead, it’s accompanied by a beautiful piece titled, “Marriage Life.”
What a fitting title.
Though it’s been covered many times from several fans across the world, one rendition has been dubbed as “breathtaking” and “brilliant.”
A harpist named Madison Calley performs her own version of the song on a harp. And yes, it’s as beautiful as you imagine it would be.
Calley resides in Los Angeles and has been playing the harp for 19 years. Classically trained, she graduated from the esteemed Carnegie Mellon University.
Notably, Calley has covered many of today’s popular hits from artists such as H.E.R., Childish Gambino, Brandy, Monica, and more. She currently has over 15,000 subscribers on YouTube and her videos have been viewed over 350,000 times.
This video, in particular, sums up exactly why the young woman has become so popular. She’s overflowing with talent that she unselfishness shares with the world.
Sitting in a perfectly erect position, she’s positioned behind the harp in a stunning outfit. A big red bow sits atop her curly hair. The environment is just as magical. The sun shines through the window, creating a subtle glare. It looks very much like a dream sequence in a film or music video.
It’s all very picture perfect.
She and the harp are surrounded by vibrant green plants that pair seamlessly with the environment. The ambiance is ideal for the calming song that she plays.
The harp sounds beautiful and could easily have been in the movie itself. Calley plays with such ease and confidence that the video is quite mesmerizing to watch.
