Dancing With The Stars is back baby! If it feels like it has been a really long time since you got to watch adults dance on DWTS, it has been.
In the past, DWTS always aired two seasons in a year. Ratings and excitement for the show must have taken a dip because it was decided that they’d only air one season (with adults, that is) per year. Don’t forget, there is a version with children, now, too!
Season 28 just premiered this month, so you don’t have too much catching up to do, thankfully. Better to do it now before the competition gets too intense!
The celebrities on season 28 of Dancing With The Stars are Ally Brooke, James Van Der Beek, Lamar Odom, Hannah Brown, Sailor Brinkley-Cook (who replaced her mom, Christie Brinkley), Karamo Brown, Kate Flannery, Mary Wilson, Laura Alaina, Ray Lewis, Kel Mitchell, and Sean Spicer.
To say the group is extremely mixed this season would be a total understatement! As per usual, DWTS always tends to include a member of the Bachelor family (since it also airs on ABC). This season, that is recent Bachelorette – Hannah Brown!
The former Miss Alabama has had a busy past few years, going from her pageant days to live on reality TV. She’s continuing on that reality TV path and adding dancing to her resume.
To kick off her run on season 28 of Dancing With the Stars, Hannah danced the Cha Cha with her partner, Alan Bersten, to “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)” by Whitney Houston.
Given it is the first week of competition, Hannah and Alan had a few hiccups during their routine, but Hannah’s enthusiasm more than made up for that. No one is perfect during Week 1!
In fact, the judges all seemed to love Hannah’s energy and the Cha Cha was a great dance for her to start off with. For the night, Hannah and Alan had the highest total score, 44 points, combined from the judges.
Not too far after Hannah’s high score was Dawson’s Creek alum James Van Der Beek. He and his partner, Emma Slater, earned 41 points. The lowest score of the night came from Lamar Odom and Peta Murgatroyd, with a measly 23 points, but they were surprisingly not voted off. Mary Wilson went home after Week 1.
One commenter really liked the DWTS pro that Hannah was paired with:
Wow!!!! Go Hannah!! She did a great job. I’m so excited for this season. And I like the Pro she’s paired with. Allen is adorable.
In fact, many fans of DWTS are defensive of Alan and want to make sure he gets the best this season. Another commenter wrote:
Hannah was actually really good but I swear if the producers have Alan in another showmance for a second season in a row, I’m done with this partnership.
Do you think based on Hannah’s high score from the night will help her this season? Let us know in the comments if you think she can make it all the way to that Mirror Ball Trophy at the end of the season!
