Martin County Fire Rescue (MCFR) ignited the hearts of thousands across the globe when they took it upon themselves to partake in the viral “Git Up Challenge.”

While these firemen are usually dedicated to putting out fires, they have managed to start a few with their hot dance moves that are now being shared across social media.

The #GitUpChallenge is a dance that has gone viral on social media with millions of users recording and posting their best performance of the dance moves online. The MCFR thought it would be fun to take the challenge too – especially because these men are “always up for a challenge.”

Challenge accepted!

The video begins with the soundtrack from Lil Nas’ hit song “Old Town Road ” while the three firemen can be seen polishing and cleaning fire trucks in the background – appearing to be going about their daily duties as usual.

Everything seems to be business as usual, or is it?

When the camera pans out, Blanco Brown’s song “The Git Up” begins playing, indicating the start of the #GitUpChallenge. We know things are about to get lively. To prove it, the firefighters have also traded in their plain overalls for their professional gear – helmets and all!

Really getting going

After tossing their polishing cloths and fireman’s axes aside, the three fiery firefighters begin busting their moves to the viral song. They don’t miss a beat.

It all starts with a two-step, followed by a cowboy boogie, then with a spin, and a hoedown; not to forget the dip, throw down, and sip.

All of the dance moves were choreographed according to the lyrics of the song, making them fun and easy to follow for anyone.

Even so, the now-famous firefighters from the MCFR have done an excellent job and captured the true spirit of the challenge: to have fun!

In fact, it’s safe to say that they have perfected it.

How the challenge started

Since the video of the MCFR firemen completing the challenge was posted, it has obtained over five million views! And this isn’t just because they’re amazing (which they are). The popularity of the video is also due to the fact that everyone is doing the challenge on social media.

The #GitUpChallenge was inspired by the release of Blanco Brown’s top song, “The Git Up.” Ever since the country/hip hop artist recorded a tutorial of the dance and posted it on YouTube, the video has reached an astounding 9.7 million views!

Everyone loves it

Fans cannot get enough of the catchy step-by-step dance and are all eagerly posting their performances online for the world to see. Everyone from teens to police and even pregnant moms have taken to the floor to show off their moves!

The lyrics from the song act as a guide for the dance moves similar to DJ Casper’s popular “Cha Cha Slide,” released back in 2000.

As the view count and the number of posts on YouTube, Facebook, and TikTok continue to climb, there is no reason to expect the iconic #GitUpChallenge to fizzle out any time soon!
