“This looks like it’s gonna’ hurt” – Terry Crews
When Danila Bim took to the America’s Got Talent stage, no one knew what she was going to do. With all the fun and crazy acts that’s happened on that show, it was anyone’s wild guess!
Still, Howie, Heidi, Sofia, and Simon probably never thought that they’d be seeing a circus-like act that day when they arrived. Or maybe they’ve psyched themselves up for all the insane moments the show’s known for, who knows.
Danila got everyone on their feet by suspending her feet and more in mid-air using her hair.
To the tune of, “In the air tonight”, the Brazilian artist hooked her hair up literally and proceeded to stun the audience and all four judges with an act so mesmerizing you’d forget that it would actually hurt doing so.
Danila told Today why she got into the hair suspension act.
“Hair suspension is painful when you’re learning. Every discipline in the circus is. There’s a pain of adapting to every discipline we learn. For me, it was when I could lift myself off of the floor. It was magical to fly and not be holding anything and being able to dance with my own weight. That was the best feeling.”
This Brazilian beauty displayed incredible command of her body, her muscles taut as she extended her limbs while swinging from her hair.
Howie and Terry look so amazed. Poor guys.
Then you have Sofia and Heidi, two gorgeous women who spend hours just to get that perfect look for their hair. This is not an act for the faint of heart. Or for those who use substandard shampoo.
Danila’s suspension act starts slowly, building along with the music.
It’s certainly an evocative type of dance, one that’s got jaws hanging. That is before the tempo rises.
Her website says,
“A graduate of Santo Andre’s School of Dance, Danila has spent the better part of two decades expanding her skills as a world-class acrobat, conceiving, creating, and performing original acts in over 30 countries. From the famed Ringling Bros to Palazzo, Cirque Du Soleil to International concept development, Danila Bim has been on the forefront of innovative circus performance and has worked with the world’s most notable entertainment companies. As a distinguished aerial specialist, she has designed and created her own unique take on the highly desired rare art form of Hair Suspension.”
Danila lives to entertain. This lady had to condition and train her scalp to be able to hold her body weight. It took Danila six months of testing, before she was able to take flight using only her hair.
Her hair act premiered in the Cirque Du Soleil show Volta in 2017.
The music builds in its intensity and as Danila remains suspended in the air, she begins to spin faster and faster drawing cheers from the crowd that even Sofia Vergara couldn’t contain herself.
And as quickly as the tempo rose, the music suddenly comes to a dramatic halt with Danila slowly dropping down, her spin getting slower and slower before she sits on the stage with her legs crossed.
“Absolutely incredible! A standing O from the judges! And me.”
Goes Terry Crews.
Now that’s how you put on a show!
That’s an act they’ll all remember. There are those who audition to win it, then there are others who leave an indelible mark on the product.
That’s a win for those artists. This act really was a hair raising experience. But to get a standing ovation from the audience and all four judges is not an easy feat. But then again her feet left the ground so it was only fitting that the others stood in response.
