Katelyn Ohashi is no stranger to winning.
The gymnast is famous for tumbling into the perfect drop split, then bouncing back up with a huge smile on her face.
She does her trademark move in this video.
Ohashi is a six-time All-American and was a four-time member of USA Gymnastics’ Junior National Team, the 2011 junior national champion and the winner of the 2013 American Cup.
Ohashi always incorporated current, popular dance elements into her routines, and her explosive athleticism is such a joy to watch.
Exhibition Monaco 2019 has the gymnast doing what she does best, and that’s impressing and stunning judges and the audience.
She rises to the challenge, considering she’s pretty famous at this point that even the big names of the sport and certain politicians commended her.
“It’s been different,” Ohashi said of her success, “seeing how many celebrities had posted about it — I would never have expected it. It’s all exciting things that are happening. It was a big surprise.”
Watch her routine and you’ll understand why she broke the internet.
Ohashi even has admirers come out on the floor to watch her perform.
She’s a great role model to those young fans of hers.
As good as she is, it was anything but easy for this gymnast.
She has written and spoken out on the pain, stress and expectations she has to go through as a teenager while trying to fulfill Olympic dreams.
At 16, she suffered a back injury forcing her to put her dreams on hold for a whole year.
It was during her time away that she rediscovered her love and passion for the sport, driving her to excel even further.
“I felt brainwashed,” she wrote in a blog post.
“Everyone else’s normal was becoming my reality and I was heading towards a physical and mental burnout.”
This floor routine proves just how awesome Ohashi is.
Her fans agree and this viewer said this about her,
“She has a unique style that broke the mold and norm of what was expected she is inventive. And takes her sport to new heights. She is a pleasure to watch her powerful Presence is felt in the gymnastic world . She will be the high mark to be compared to for decades to come.”
Just notice how she controls her body.
Ohashi’s muscles flexing as she runs, jumps, spins, and does things no ordinary human being can.
We’d get injured even attempting some of her moves!
She is of German-Japanese descent, but was born and raised in the USA, and was just twelve when she made her debut on the mat.
Ohashi proves her passion here, smiling and totally taking the spotlight with her signature style.
It is a short routine but it’s more than enough to impress even those who aren’t really into gymnastics.
