To achieve your goals, you’re going to have to overcome some hurdles.
For some, those hurdles can be higher than most.
This was the case for a young gymnast name Giorgia Greco.
She’s a 13-years-old girl from Milan, Italy, and performs rhythmic gymnastics.
It’s something that she loves to do and has been practicing it since she was just 4-years-old.
However, at age 7, Giorgia started to experience pain in her legs.
After a visit to the doctor, they discovered that Giorgia had a bone tumor in her left leg.
It was potentially life-threatening and they were forced to amputate Girogia’s leg.
Her mother said,
“Following checks, they found a bone tumor, we had more chances of staying with Giorgia with the amputation.”
After that, it would be easy to imagine that Giorgia would no longer pursue becoming a gymnast.
However, after she healed from the operation, Giorgia went home and discovered that she could do a handstand against the wall.
From then on, she decided that she wasn’t going to let her disability keep her from doing what she loved to do.
Giorgia kept practicing and got really, really good.
She tried out for the show “Italia’s Got Talent” and was accepted.
Now she had to perform her routine in front of a live audience and the judges.
In the video below, you can watch Giorgia’s incredible routine.
From the start, you can tell that this girl knows what she is doing.
The music comes on and she immediately starts bending her body in impressive positions and rolling around the mat.
She makes these moves so naturally that it’s hard to tell that she is doing them all with only one leg.
She eventually stands up and grabs a jump rope.
Giorgia uses it and moves around the stage, jumping rope and moving her body to the music.
The crowd and the judges are loving what they are seeing, applauding at every impressive move that Giorgia performs.
She then moves on to using a hula hoop.
She tosses it into the air, does some somersaults, and then catches it again all in one fluid motion.
When she finally finishes her routine, the crowd immediately gets up and gives her a standing ovation.
But now it’s time for the judges to weigh in on her performance.
They all have good things to say, but one judge was particularly impressed by her.
Federica Pellegrini let her know just how incredible her performance was.
She asked if Giorgia does this professionally and Giorgia replied that she does.
“In theory, but I compete alone anyway.”
Federica asked why and Giorgia replied, “Because there are no other girls like me, so I can’t compete with anyone.”
So essentially, her sports category doesn’t exist and because of this, she can’t compete professionally.
In order to let Giorgia know just how great her performance was, Federica decided to press the Golden Buzzer which sends a contestant directly to the finals.
The scene was very moving and brought Giorgia to tears.
