Dance can be sweet, sultry, and tell a story, all in one routine.
What people often forget is that it can be hilarious, too!
Seeing a truly hilarious dance routine is usually enough to make you belly laugh and keep your mood up for the rest of the week.
Brad Whelan and Glenn Ball decided to perform a hilarious routine at the Wet Coast Swing Competition.
The video begins with an introduction by Brad as he explains what’s about to happen.
The audience is already laughing even though they have no idea what’s about to happen.
As he sets up the joke, he explains that one “special” routine meant a lot to him growing up.
That routine involved a pink ball.
As he talks about the pink ball, one randomly rolls out from the side!
What are the chances of that?
It’s all be a set-up!
When Brad sees the ball, he starts taking off his suit and stripping down to overalls, a shirt, and socks.
“It was just like this one”
Music starts playing as the clothes are flung off to the side.
The song is a classic and immediately starts the audience laughing.
It’s “Hello”, by Lionel Richie and the slow lyrics make an already funny situation even funnier.
As he picks up the ball romantically, he moves over to the side of the room.
With the first “Hello” from the song, Glenn appears from the curtains.
It’s far from your typical performance.
It’s like a movie scene!
The two men fight for the ball while dancing, finally ending up in the middle of the room once again as the slow music keeps on playing.
As they meet in the middle, they start a whole new routine – only this time, it’s together.
Keeping the ball between them, they use it as the glue that keeps them together as they dance.
They press it between their chests and open their arms wide as the sweeping guitar solo rolls across the room.
Amid hysterical laughs and shrieks from the crowd, they perform little dance elements with the soft pink ball.
Soon, it’s time for the big moment – the pass-through.
The pass-through is a move that can turn very awkward, very fast, if done incorrectly.
Keeping pressure on the ball, someone uses their head to press the ball against the other’s body while moving between their legs and ending up back to back.
If the ball loses grip, the person on their knees ends up with their face in a somewhat… awkward, position!
The two pros complete the move without a hitch!
They end the song with Brad accepting the ball as a gift from Glenn and the audience gives them all the applause that such a performance deserves.
Are these two professional dancers? Yes, but who says they can’t have a bit of fun at the competition?
We will never look at a pink ball the same again.
From now until the end of time you will be cursed with hearing “Hello” every time you are in Walmart and you see that iconic pink ball behind a net in the aisle!
