The Rock That Swing Festival is an annual celebration of the diversity of swing, showcasing dance from the 1920s to the 1950s.

Talented performers from all over the world attend the festival to show off their best moves, inspiring their peers and blowing their audience away with their skills.

The 2017 festival was held Deutsches Theater in Munich, Germany, and ended up hosting a selection of the best dancers the event had seen to that date.

Spanning over a period of four days, the festival showcased a broad range of dance types.

There were tens of incredible acts, but Sondre Olsen-Bye and Tanya Georgeiievska were a pair who stood out from the crowd.

The couple shares a passion for dance that has seen them travel the world, performing in shows and competitions, since 2015.

They didn’t hesitate to join in the festivities at Rock That Swing, showcasing an unforgettable performance.

Choreographed to Frank Sinatra “Fly Me To The Moon, the couple pulled out all the stops with their lindy hop dance.

Their outfits correspond perfectly with the era they’re representing, with Sondre in a suit, his bright blue bow tie exactly matching Tanya’s blue dress.

The pair are already in character as the opening notes of the infamous jazz song play out.

They take it in turns to wink at each other, then launch straight into what was later hailed as the most memorable performance of the whole event.

Sondre spins Tanya in a circle, then the pair come together and Tanya lifts Sondre’s leg while he pulls a “superman” pose.

The dance is peppered with cheekiness like this, and, while the couple has clearly practiced their routine hard, their hilarious expressions make the whole thing seem fun and quirky.

They’re both natural performers, getting the audience involved with their every synchronized move.

Not only has the dance been choreographed to showcase Sondre and Tanya’s talents to their full, the pair have also cleverly incorporated their moves to match the lyrics of the song.

When Frank Sinatra singe, “baby kiss me,” for instance, Tanya stops to give Sondre a besotted peck on the cheek. They’re giving the image of a young, excitable couple in love, and the audience is totally falling for it.

It’s like the kiss is a signal for the real swing to start, because after that, they take their dance to another level.

In half a second, Sondre bends down and Tanya flips deftly over him, then returns back to her starting position through his legs.

Somehow managing to stick to the beat, the pair transition swiftly into their next synchronized move. They make it look easy, but there’s no denying that took a lot of practice.

This charismatic duo aren’t your typical dancers – both of them have plenty of gymnastic skill, too.

They both drop into splits at separate points, before they separate to dance alone. Coming back together, the pair swing and spin some more, until we come to the last three beats of the song.

It’s almost a shame the dance has to be over, but the couple finishes with a bang, with Tanya popping her chest and Sandre pretending he’s controlling her movements with his hands.

It’s unsurprising that the dance ended up going viral on YouTube, with more than 3 million views to this day.
