Who doesn’t love jazz music?
Gypsy jazz is a unique small-group form of jazz created by Romanian musician Jean “Django” Reinhardt and French swing violinist Stéphane Grappelli when the two musicians met in the 1930s. Since then, many have been drawn to the spunky form of jazz, but not many have mastered it like Hot Club du Nax.
In this clip, the kazz collective Hot Club du Nax does a gorgeous performance of “Joseph Joseph” from a narrow alleyway.
Hot Club du Nax is a fairly new gypsy jazz band, who has reached millions of people from all around the world with their stunning music. Singer Isobel Cope puts her vocal abilities on full display in this captivating performance.

At the beginning of the video, Isobel starts singing the words to “Joseph Joseph” while the rest of the band waits for their cue to come in.
One guitarist makes a rattling sound to build up anticipation until the musicians join him and the real show begins.
Hot Club du Nax does more than play classical jazz beautifully—they’re also dressed for the part, too!
Dressed in costumes from the ’20s and ’30s, they flawlessly play “Joseph Joseph” and even have performers dressed in flapper dresses gigging in the background.
About 1:10 into the video, the violinist standing to the side comes in with an incredible solo as Isobel lets her voice rest and the instruments take front and center.
After a brilliant violin solo, the guitarists take over and start shredding on their acoustic guitars.
The violinist even turns his instrument into a guitar, holding it sideways and plucking along with the melody. You can’t forget about the musician playing the massive double bass, as the tone of his instrument holds the whole performance together.
Each musician is a master of his craft, perfectly doing their part in order for the well-oiled machine to function.
Not to mention, they’re doing all of this from a narrow alleyway! Isobel lets the band take over for more than a minute before she comes back in better than ever. For the last minute off the spectacular show, Hot Club du Nax works together to make it a finale worth remembering.
It’s not just the band members’ who go all-out—the dancers in the background go into full a swing dance as well!
This isn’t the only impressive performance you can find from Hot Club du Nax.
Their YouTube channel is littered with amazing musical content that you won’t want to miss. Although some of their videos go viral, none have taken on the life that this video has.
