There are Disney songs for just about anything, be it coming of age, looking for love, even weather forecasts (I don’t know, I haven’t seen Frozen, is that what Let it Snow is about?) But there is one song that stands out as possibly the most romantic. It is of course, “Can You Feel The Love Tonight”, by none other than the man, the myth, the legend; Elton John. Created for The Lion King’s 1995 release, with lyrics written by legendary lyricist Tim Rice, it has remained a popular love song, even independent of the Disney films.
So much so, that it’s a popular choice for romantic gestures!
One such grand gesture is this groom who decided to surprise his newly (very newly) married bride with a heartfelt rendition of his own. After the ceremony was complete, he set his young daughter down and the piano begins to play.
Oh yeah, and the bride had NO IDEA what was about to happen!
At first she looks around nervously when the piano begins. Was there some cue of the ceremony she had forgotten about? What was going on? Then, when her new hubby begins to sing, she can’t take her eyes off of him.
Judging by the bridesmaids responses, they weren’t expecting it either!
They look to each other in silent surprise. A few cheeky grins tell us that they think this is rather romantic themselves. If any of them are yet to marry you can bet their prospective partner will have big shoes to fill!
The groom’s voice is stunning, and could give Elton a run for his money.
He has an incredible voice, and clearly knows how to use it. It’s smooth, and powerful enough for him to compete with a piano and sing without any microphone. Meanwhile, the bride looks out to the family and friends proudly.
Then as the song builds, so do the singers.
Joining in the song, a choir joins the groom on stage, and provides backing voices. They all lend extra gravitas to the song and fill the church with their angelic voices.
As the groom rises with the choir along with the song, you can practically feel the audience welling up.
What an emotionally charged love song to sing, and at such a momentous time.
As he continues to sing, he picks up his daughter again.
She seems a bit overwhelmed by the noise, but remains calm. I guess young children don’t really understand weddings, or why suddenly half the people in the room are singing loudly and the other half are weeping!
As they leave the chapel, the choir continues to sing.
The bride, groom and their child all step slowly down through their friends and family together. Just before they leave, Dad plants a sweet kiss on his daughter’s head. This will be a moment that they will remember forever, and a moment that wives in the audience won’t be letting their husbands forget!
