More and more newlyweds are including surprise dance performances to entertain their wedding guests.
Some have opted to go with traditional or sentimental songs, while others have used mash-ups of ’90s hits, or a mix of current and classic songs. A few have even gone the whole 9 yards and used the classic and timeless Dirty Dancing sequence, complete with the lift!
But this groom’s dance is different.
He’s a “Smooth Criminal.”
And just as impressive as his performance is the fact that he was only able to practice with his “backup dancers” to the Michael Jackson tune over the Internet prior to the wedding!
The only time they rehearsed the dance all together in person was the night before the wedding!
Talk about commitment and friendship!
Jeff Loehrke, the groom, started on the dance floor on his own, dressed up as Michael Jackson. He led the bridal party into a wedding dance performance that has stood timeless.
Loehrke is a video creator and sports enthusiast currently based in Brandon, Mississippi. He’s also a Motion Designer at Pinelake Church, Brandon, MS, and a Freelance Motion Designer and Animator at JEL Production.
When a video of the performance was uploaded on YouTube, it went viral.
Just one of the videos has over 11 million views – and it has been uploaded more than once!
“It’s hard to dance like MJ and he did an awesome job,” a viewer said, “The groom was STELLAR! He rocked it! That guy can move. This was the best wedding dance video I’ve seen yet.”
And don’t worry, the bride was in on it too!
In fact, they’ve amassed quite a following and some naysayers, too.
But not to worry, their fans have been protecting them all these years.
“987 dislikes…proof that there are people in this world who can never try to be happy. But not you. I know I’m late but I hope your marriage is as awesome as this dance. I wish you two all the best!”
More and more wedding couples are now figuring out more creative ways to entertain their guests at their wedding. And what’s more, even their families and friends are doing the same thing, choreographing creative performances to entertain the couple and the guests.
Of course, you can’t make everyone happy.
Some people don’t think it’s appropriate to “dress up” a sacred occasion. But more often than not, people WANT to have fun at weddings.

Weddings have definitely come a long way from the traditions of the past.
Now, it’s a way to show the couple’s personality, and creativity, their gratitude for the people who support and love them – and a memorable celebration of a new life together.
