Greyson Michael Chance has been an impressive talent since he was a young boy. The 20-year-old is an American singer, songwriter, and pianist that grew up in Edmond, Oklahoma and started playing the piano at the age of 8.

He got his big break in 2010 when he played piano and sang to Lady Gaga’s “Paparazzi” at a sixth-grade music festival.

A video of the performance ended up going viral after being posted to GossipBoy.ca, RyanSecrest.com, and BuzzFeed, according to Wikipedia. Greyson’s brother ended up writing to The Ellen DeGeneres Show asking Ellen to watch the video and she did. She also asked him to appear on her show.

He basically blew up after that and has been making music ever since. The video of his cover of “Paparazzi” ended up getting more than 60 million YouTube views as of December 2017.

Two of his original pieces “Stars” and “Broken Hearts” also got six and eight millions views each on his YouTube channel.

Greyson released his debut single “Waiting Outside the Lines” in October 2010 and his debut album, “Hold On ‘Til the Night,” the following August. His second EP, “Somewhere Over My Head” came out in May 2016 featuring the singles “Hit and Run” and “Back On the Wall”.

For Greyson, 2017 was a huge year. After doing a cover of “Hungry Eyes” for the new Dirty Dancing soundtrack in 2016, Greyson released a new original song in June 2017 called “Seasons.”

The following month he came out as gay to his fans in an Instagram post saying he was proud of who he is.

He said that he was inspired to come out after getting a message from “a brave individual.”

“Such message inspired me to shed light on an aspect of my private life which I have kept distant from my career in music,” he said on Instagram. “I came to fully recognize that I was gay when I was sixteen. I decided not to publicize my sexuality largely due to a matter of privacy, as I was still trying to find comfort and confidence within my own skin.Further, I always found conversations regarding music, politics, art, books – and the greatness of Nas’ catalog – to be far more interesting than what type of guy I was into. This is still true today.”

He latest single, “Low,” was released in December, but his rise to stardom all began with that first YouTube video which you can watch below.
