One special thing about the relationship between grandparents and grandchildren is that there’s always so much for grandkids to learn from their grandparents.
For years before they were born, grandparents were involved in other parts of history and were living entirely different lives.
So, when one young girl rediscovered a song that her grandfather wrote about the army, she was fascinated by it and wanted to give tribute in a special way.
Mike Brook always wanted to join the army.

She recorded herself singing it.
So when her recording was finished, she gathered the family together to listen and see how her grandpa would react.
Christmas Eve was the perfect time to get everyone together, so she played it when the family was all together for Christmas.
The moment he heard the song, he knew this was something special.
The emotion was written on his face.
Of course, Mike Brook instantly recognized the song. Sitting there listening to his granddaughter sing what he had written decades prior, he began to cry.
It makes sense, to hear a piece of art you made get transformed by your own family is such a treat and an affirmation of how important and beloved this song is by everyone in the family.
