A lot of the time with all of these talent competition shows, sheer talent is overlooked in favor of a gimmick or a sob story. But sometimes, someone comes along and is so him or herself, and that’s enough.
Grace Davies is one of those people.
At just 20 years old, she’s such a huge talent. From the moment the judges first heard her sing, they were all absolutely smitten.
Not only does she have an incredible voice, but she’s also an incredibly talented songwriter. She isn’t afraid to sing her own original songs in front of the judges, and she takes that big risk when she walks on stage for this performance.
In the weeks leading up to this moment, Grace has almost let the pressure of boot camp get to her. It’s incredibly nerve-wracking to go through something like that, and it’s no wonder she was having issues coping with the pressure.
However, she pushed through the fear of rejection to make it to this very moment.
And boy, was it worth it.
As she sits at a piano, no tricks up her sleeve, just pure talent and emotion, she’s completely exposed. It’s amazing to see someone allowing themselves to be so vulnerable and honest.
The song she wrote is about a relationship that didn’t end well. Clearly, based on the judges’ tearful reaction, it’s something that so many of us can relate to. Heartbreak is, sadly, pretty much a universal thing. Even if you didn’t understand English, you’d be able to feel the emotions in this song just from listening to the tone of her voice.
When the song is finished, she just breaks down with joy and relief. It’s such a special moment to witness, and you just want to give her a hug through the screen.
She deserves that moment of relief because she absolutely nailed it with her performance!
The judges only have good things to say, and their tears prove just how good of an artist and performer she is, as well as what a sweet person she is.
I’ll bet that whoever that song is about is feeling pretty silly for ending things now! Their loss, for sure!
She deserves the chance to share all of her original songs with the world, don’t you think? Her songwriting and her pure voice are definitely at the same caliber as so many of the top pop artists out there today, there’s no doubt in my mind.
Would you listen to Grace’s songs if she recorded them? I know I would! It’s artists like her that really make all of these talent shows worthwhile, in my humble opinion. When a true artist is able to prove her or his worth with nothing but their own hard work and natural talent.
