Whitney Houston was one of the greatest singers of all time.

So, it should come as no surprise that hopeful singers often will cover her music in an attempt to impress judges, directors, talent agents, and recruiters.

However, people often say that singing Whitney is a bad choice, as no one can compete with her talent.

Whitney, despite having passed away six years ago, remains the most awarded woman in Guinness World Records.

During her 35+ year career, Whitney put out numerous hits, but one of her absolute biggest remains “I Will Always Love You.” Which actually wasn’t her song – it is a cover of a Dolly Parton song!

After Whitney sang “I Will Always Love You” for The Bodyguard, it became her most iconic song and to this day, singers across the globe try their best to recreate it, but it is too hard for most.

Well, Glennis Grace didn’t choose that song or “I Wanna Dance With Somebody,” but she did pick another classic Whitney song.

Glennis, a 39-year-old mom with an 11-year-old son, is a woman who has big dreams, so she auditioned for season 13 of America’s Got Talent.

Judge Simon Cowell asked Glennis what her goal was for coming on America’s Got Talent.

“Glennis, I’m curious, before we start, you’re 39, you come here, you’re a singer. Tell me, what’s the ambition, what is the dream here.”

To which she responded to Simon:

“Ever since I was a little kid, I knew I was made to sing for lots and lots of people.”

After she finished her rendition of “Run To You,” the audience was on their feet cheering and screaming for her.

The first judge to give commentary was Simon. He said:

“Glennis, I’m just sitting here, you look amazing, you sound amazing. I feel like I’m looking at a star already, I’ve got to be honest with you. I’m thrilled you’d come on the show, you’re just such an amazing artist. I mean, incredible”

Heidi Klum had a big compliment to pay:

“You’re absolutely incredible! And probably the best compliment I could give you is that you actually do sound much like Whitney Houston.”

Mel B then told Glennis that she sounded so much like Whitney, that she wanted Glennis to come out next time and embody Whitney, but sound more like Glennis.

Howie Mandel told her that the only reason that Glennis wasn’t a star yet is that they hadn’t seen her on AGT! Well, after all four judges gave her a “yes,” it sounds like we’re going to watch a star be born this season!

What do you think of Glennis Grace’s audition? I love her voice and think she did Whitney a lot of justice with this cover.

America’s Got Talent airs on NBC on Tuesday nights, directly followed by World of Dance.
