In 1973, they met on stage and performed “Dueling Banjos” from the movie Deliverance. Let’s see how it turned out.

These men have some serious skills.

The video showcases Campbell and Jackson together on stage.

Before they begin to play, Campbell shortly introduces them and says they’re about to play a song that sold three million records and it has only a guitar and a banjo. We’re guessing that sometimes a simple approach is the best approach. So, Campbell takes his acoustic guitar and starts picking up those strings while Jackson follows on his banjo. They wear leisure suits and it’s adorable how Campbell matched his suit and guitar color.

Their great voices, good looks, and generally classy appearance makes these men excellent performers.

This live version is brilliant and it almost sounds better than the original! After all, talented players are always upgrading what’s already incredible. The dynamic duo here did an excellent job and their performance is sure to leave you in awe.

As it turns out, Campbell was always emphasizing younger musical talents during his career.

Campbell was a studio instrumentalist who played back-up for other musicians like Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra.

He was discovered as a talent in his own right, and the rest is history. The best thing about this great gentleman is that he was never afraid of sharing the spotlight, the attention, and the stage. He wanted to play with young, talented people, he wanted them to do good and to look well. That’s the case here too.

Campbell sort of guides Jackson to show off the best he’s got and the results are phenomenal.

Campbell was one of the greatest guitarists of all time. Even though he’s in a different genre, he brings the same quality.

The entire thing shows the two playing in a relaxed and easy manner.

Both musicians have amazing technique.

The best part is when these men start smiling midway through. That’s how you know you’ve hit the groove and you’re having fun with the music. Campbell isn’t even looking at his fingers while he plays, and the same goes for Jackson! We’ve seen some of the finest banjo-picking when he played his part. This is, for sure, one of the best versions of “Duelling Banjos” and it’s a pure joy to watch.

Unfortunately, Campbell passed away in 2017.

Jackson once said that he’ll always remember the way Campbell introduced him before this show as “the finest banjo player he’s ever seen anywhere in the world.”

In 2017, Jackson performed a duet of “Gentle On My Mind” with Ashley Campbell, Glen Campbell’s daughter. The two also collaborated on Campbell’s last album, Adios. It’s touching to see how Campbell’s legacy continues to shine through the people he worked with. Carl Jackson, now 66, looks back at his career and says that nothing pleased his dad more than him wanting to play the banjo. That’s how it all started, and we’re glad it did.
