A group of ten-year-old girls stole the show, leaving the crowd cheering and eager for more and catching the internet’s attention as well.
The young ladies have definitely outdone themselves and proven that dedication and a whole lot of spirit do not go unnoticed.
If you have been having a bad day, then this video of an all-girl modern ballet dance routine should offer a glimmer of light and definitely put you in a better mood with its upbeat rhythm and excellently executed combination of ballet and contemporary dance moves.
First place and with good reason
The Junior Musical Theater Small Group swept the crowd off their feet with their energetic dance rendition of “Tomorrow” at the KAR Nationals. And, although the dancers are not professional and are still learning, they put on an amazing performance that guaranteed them the top prize!
Welcomed to the stage with cheers from the crowd, the routine begins with a single dancer brings the crowd’s attention to the stage with her well-calculated stretches, twirls, and leaps.
After a few seconds, some of the other dancers join her on stage and begin their completely unified dance routine. The girls all look spectacular in their small yellow dresses and definitely appear to be cascading around the stage like a warm sunbeam on a summer’s day.
The group puts on a highly impressive performance, constantly keeping in tempo with one another – the two unified leaps are particularly well-executed, leaving the crowd awestruck.
Picking up the pace
With a few snaps of their fingers and a change in their pace, the girls signify the start to the second phase of their routine: a faster tempo version of “Tomorrow.”
This phase is not only more upbeat but encompasses a combination of both classical ballet and contemporary dance moves such as cartwheels and the pointe technique. But it’s when “Hardknock Life” is thrown into the mix that the routine becomes genuinely adorable.
The ten girls line up beside one another, and the portion of the routine officially begins with the right-most dancer throwing her arms up in frustration followed by the group joining hands. The girls then cross their arms or pick one another up while the other kicks into the air, reiterating the “we get kicked” lyrics – not only adorable but funny as well!
The big finale
The music returns to the upbeat version of “Tomorrow” as the girls are readying to present their big finale for the crowd.
The girls spread out, keeping a single ballerina in the center while the group shows off their excellent ballet moves. Nine of the dancers skip around the dancer in the center while she executes a perfect pirouette.
From here, the girls line up again and perform their final stretches and pirouettes in a wave fashion to top off their routine.
The group of energetic and spunky dancers performed their hearts out with an amazing routine choreographed by Rachel Miller. The performance was not only fun to watch, but the girls looked so happy as they swept across the stage.
It is a dance routine that has definitely done the inspirational movie “Annie” justice, and clearly, the judges thought so too as they awarded the group of girls first place for their performance and dedication to dancing.
