A promotional flash mob is often a great way to attract attention.

If it also involves beautiful girls in bikinis and volleyball on the beach, success is almost guaranteed. At least, that’s what residents of the Spanish “City in the Sea” decided when they went about promoting their town as a desirable tourist destination.

It was built by the Knights Templar before being garrisoned by the Knights of Montes, later reverting to the Crown of Aragon.

Pope Benedict XIII lived there until his death in 1423. Legend has it that Peñiscola is the place where Hannibal had to swear an oath that he would never be a friend of Rome. There is also a beautiful lighthouse there, and the surrounding beaches are a popular family holiday resort.

We’re seeing a more modern side of the town that has such an amazing historical background!

People are laying on the beach, enjoying the sun and soaking in all the vitamin D they can get. You can see that it’s a beautiful sand beach, and the look of the castle in the background makes it even more magnificent.

Just when we were thinking that the sunny day in Spain couldn’t get any better, several girls gathered around.

A moment later, Jennifer Lopez’s “On The Floor” starts playing and a girl in a yellow-pink bikini is the first to start dancing—but soon she’s joined by the rest of the girls.

People in the crowd aren’t exactly sure what’s going n, but you can see that everyone is going with the flow.

The rhythm is contagious and phones are out, filming the whole thing—and the girls are having the time of their lives. We also spotted a guy on the right dancing with them.

It’s an uplifting video that reminds us all of how beautiful and unrepeatable every summer vacation is.

Although this performance got the town some attention, it’s famous for many reasons. The main festivals of Peñiscola are held in September, and that’s when the town bursts with dance shows and the streets explode with colors!

That’s because the town reenacts the battle of the Moors and Christians.

If you visit, you’ll also discover plenty of hidden coves—you shouldn’t miss the Medieval Market either, or The Museum of the Sea. Locals take a lot of pride in their seafaring traditions, and they’ll allow you to climb up El Faro, their lighthouse dating from 1892.
