There’s something about seeing parents bonding with their children. Specifically, when a father bonds with his daughter, people just can’t seem to get enough of it. Maybe because, traditionally, it was thought that fathers weren’t to be overly affectionate towards their children. They have often been viewed as the provider and that is typically where it begins and ends.

But many fathers are softies at heart. Some just have different ways of showing their love. Often, through the hardened and stoic exterior is a loving and caring parent.

Again, these are how fathers are traditionally viewed. But there are plenty of fathers out there working to change that stereotype. Fathers can be doting and openly gentle with their children and there isn’t any shame in that.

While there are many ways fathers bond with their children, one Utah father has chosen music as a way for him and his daughter to spend some quality time together.

Mat Shaw and his 15-year-old daughter, Savanna, have been setting the internet world on fire with their melodic duos. Though the pair are new to YouTube (they joined on March 6 of this year), they have already racked up over 10 million views for their videos!

The kicker, though? They only have 8 videos posted! In fact, their first video has over 4 million views.

The father-daughter duo began singing together amidst the stay-at-home orders put into place in several states due to the coronavirus pandemic. Once Savanna’s choir practices and concerts were canceled, she and her father paired up and began singing at home.

In order to record, they set up a microphone and laptop in a closet and record videos in their kitchen. Though it might not be the fanciest setup, it gets the job done. That job is to spread a message and their message is clear in their song choices — they are on a mission to spread hope.

Mat shares that Savanna chose to cover “The Prayer” in their first video because it is a message of hope.

“The only thing more contagious than a virus is hope,” Mat says.

Fortunately, the two are doing their best to spread it. Recently, Savanna covered the dreamy and uplifting song, “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” doubling down on her belief that hope will and can get us through the dark times.

Savanna does a wonderful job covering the song. Her voice is beautifully angelic and it’s a little difficult to believe that this is the voice of a 15-year-old! She is able to convey a full tone without being heavy. Notably, she strikes the perfect balance.

Needless to say, Judy Garland would be proud to hear such a touching rendition of the popular song. After all, viewers loved her take on the classic.

“I never ever post comments on YouTube anymore, just because I don’t see the point, but honestly there is a point to this one. Your voice is so so so beautiful and mesmerising and you seem so adorably confident with your voice, let it take you places ! 🥰❤️”

“What a voice! In a time of in-a-minute internet sensations, this really stands out. Best wishes for a bright future. Home sick and really needed this!”

“Absolutely incredible! Keep singing! God’s most beautiful instrument is the human voice, and you’re an angel!”

We have a feeling that these two will keep the videos coming. At least, we hope!
