Irish Dancers Fill The Stage As Girl In Middle Shakes Things Up

January 12th, 2021

Dancing is an art form that brings light to this world and joins people together. But while each style is beautiful, one that captivates many is Irish dance. Whether it’s being done by the famous Riverdance troupe or a young street performer – there’s something about those swift-moving feet that makes it impossible to look away!

If you’re a fan of this style, there’s a talented Dublin-based group you’re going to want to see.

They’re called the “Fusion Fighters” and they celebrate their culture through Irish dance, but all with a modern twist. The members are trained in multiple styles besides Irish dance, such as tap, body percussion, and contemporary – which they mix into their performances, along with traditional and modern Irish music.

On the Fusion Fighters website, they explain that they’ve:

“…branched away from what has become the typical Irish dance experience in order to evolve for a modern audience while still preserving their traditions.”

The dance crew consists of professionals, musicians, and hundreds of students from around the globe. They entertain crowds in a variety of performances and settings, but for those who aren’t able to see them in person, luckily, Fusion Fighters has a YouTube channel full of videos that’ll leave you dazzled.

In one video, the Fusion Fighters perform on stage at Oireachtas Rince na Cruinne in Glasgow. It features the “Fusion Dance Fest” cast.

The audience was in for quite the show.

Fusion Fighters founder and artistic director, Chris Naish, choreographed the “Dubblestep” routine, which is enjoyable from beginning to end. It starts with several group members demonstrating their fancy footwork while musicians provide an Irish tune.

A short time in, more dancers emerge and switch spots with the first group. Now, keep your eye on the girl in the middle…

The dancers rapidly move their feet on boards that help amplify the beautiful sounds, really bringing their dance to life. You gotta admit, the sound is one of the things that makes Irish dance so mesmerizing!

Suddenly, the girl in the middle shakes things up with some modern moves.

The crew keeps things lively with each passing moment.

One lovely dancer has the crowd cheering with her stunning, high-kicking solo.

The energy then goes through the roof when more than two dozen performers take the stage together.

They form rows and a bunch of male dancers in kilts get a chance to stomp on the wooden boards. Although each member is impressive on their own – the combined troupe brings it to a whole new level of awesome.

By no surprise, many YouTube users are applauding from their computer screens.

One person wrote:

“Flawlessly delivered! The musicians were amazing as well. And let’s not forget the costumes. Well done!”

Another commented:

“I love watching the Fusion Fighters. It’s hard to sit still!”
