West Coast Swing was born, obviously, on the West Coast of the United States in about 1937. It was then that Dean Collins, an American dancer, instructor and choreographer, developed swing dance as both a performer and teacher. Western swing, as it was at first called, was popular on the west coast throughout the ’40s and ’50s.

West Coast Swing is a partner dance that, unlike most other dances, encourages improvisation. It is characterized by an elastic look, resulting from its extension-compression technique of partner connection. Jazz, blues and country musicians incorporated swing in their music and this is what West Coast Swing is danced to even today.

Today, there are several dancers that promote and teach this kind of dance, while some of them participate in dancing competitions and championships.

Two of the some of the best-known dancing couples are Jordan Frisbee and Larisa Tingle.

Although Jordan and Larisa usually stick to their dancing partners, it so happened that they danced and won 1st place in Phoenix Championship as a dancing couple.

The video that follows shows the two experienced dancers performing a mind-blowing dance with flawless moves and smooth transitions. There is absolutely nothing not to love about their dance.

But who are Frisbee and Tingle?

Jordan Frisbee was born in L.A. California. He started dancing at the age of 11, when a pretty girl, who then became his first dance partner, asked him if he knew how to dance West Coast Swing. Later on, he majored in Business and Entrepreneurship, but he never ceased to love dancing. So, in the meantime, he became dance partners with Jessica Cox for three years, and in 2000 he met Tatiana Mollmann, with whom they still dance together.

Tingle, on the other hand, started as a violinist and vocalist and was then drawn to dancing. She had been living her dancing dream lately, having her own dance school and competing at a champion level with her partner Tony. At her dancing school, she teaches classes that vary from beginners to advanced on a weekly basis.

With that being said, it is obvious that we’re talking about two successful dancers who are highly skilled and experienced when it comes to West Coast Swing.

The couple’s skill shows throughout their performance, making the audience, both that watching them live and the online audience, admire them.

Some viewers also commented on the fact that Jordan’s shoes match Larisa’s hair! They even said that they “couldn’t take their eyes off” of his shoes and that he must be really confident about his footwork since he dares to wear so bright-colored shoes!

In any case, the pair’s routine was outstanding and we dare say that we’re tempted to try this kind of dance ourselves!
