Whitney Houston’s “I will always love you” has got to be one of the most endearing, most powerful romantic ballads ever written.

And it sounds even more unique with a French accent.

This is The Voice France and you are looking at 17-year-old Sonia Quesada.

A teenager with talent so much bigger than her.

Sonia is a high school student from Perpignan. her interest is in Economics and Social Sciences but with the way things are going for her, it looks like a career in music is in the works.

She takes singing and dancing lessons all while trying to learn how to play different musical instruments.

Sonia joined Florent Pagny’s team during blind auditions. “I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw that he had turned around”.

Pagny is a French singer-songwriter, musician and actor.

The man records his work in French and other languages such as Italian, Spanish and English.

Sonia is in good hands!

Her impressive vocals were put on full display with a power ballad that’s got so many others ending up hoarse and off-key. Not Sonia, who blitzes through the song.

In fact she’s probably done one of the best renditions. Even a viewer agrees.

“This song has been covered, like, a billion times on the music competition shows around the world over the past, what, 20 years?. This is one of the best ever. It is certainly the most enjoyable version I can remember. Bravo young lady. BRAVO!”

And then another viewer made this observation,

“Sonia has been consistently amazing . I swear through 4 performances of hers I have yet to hear her hit a false note and she is one of the youngest competitors! She has taken on HUGE songs that are often covered (poorly) on shows like this and shown that she has all the chops of an old school diva , just in a young girls body. For me I feel that she should have beat Caroline and won this round. Caroline is good but it’s obvious she was always going to make the finale so I knew Sonia was doomed regardless of how amazing she sung when I saw she was against Caroline.”

Well Caroline is impressive in her own right so it was a close battle that could have gone either way.

“I will always love you” requires impeccable control, sustaining each key while not straying from the melody.

It’s one thing to have range, and another to have range under control.

Sonia is out of this world amazing!

No one expected such a powerful voice to come from that petite frame.

Florent Pagny probably knew but he’s still impressed whenever he hears Sonia sing.

Now the judges all have their own singers.

But as soon as Sonia finishes, all four of them are on their feet. Sonia is that good.

Sonia’s performance is so good she’ll have you playing this clip over and over again!
