Though it goes without saying, there are so many different kinds of art and artists out there in the world.

In the old sense of the world, most people probably think about fine artists like painters and illustrators.

Beyond that, though, some of the world’s most famous artists are musicians and performers, people who have major record deals and even movie stars. Although it’s true that plenty of well-known artists are famous, there are far more of them out there that are still trying to make a name for themselves.

And one way to start that process is to do street performances.

As anyone who lives in the city knows, buskers and street performers are a part of urban life.

While there are plenty of these people in every big city, not all of them can equally capture the attention of passersby.

Fortunately, the rise of the internet has made it a bit easier for buskers to spread their performances far and wide and to make a name for themselves that way. Still, the performance has to be electrifying enough in-person to have viral potential online.

Fortunately, this performance is definitely one of those cases.

The video was originally posted in May 2011.

Though it’s unclear who the dancer is and where it was filmed, it seems to take place somewhere in France.

As the video begins, the dancer stands in the middle of the crowd and imitates a heartbeat with his body. Before long, the music starts playing and he starts slowly and subtly shifting his shoulders around to the beat.

After that, the beat drops and the performer takes things up a notch!

Before long, he’s doing all kinds of robotic movements that have the crowd in spontaneous applause.

In one impressive part, he gradually pops his head out and his body down lower and lower, until he has ratcheted himself all the way down to the floor. What’s so incredible is just how much control he seems to have over every part of his body!

Even so, the performance has plenty of humor packed into it as well. As some robotic sounds play in the background, he moves himself around and sticks his tongue out for the crowd.

At the very end, he starts a routine like he’s getting in a car.

With that, he spreads his legs wide and does a miming action of closing a door.

Next, more music starts playing and he starts gradually scooting forward towards the crowd.

The overall effect is like he’s in a car that’s moving very slowly, accomplished by only moving his feet as slowly as possible! When it’s all over, he strikes a pose and the audience gives him a huge round of applause.

Since the clip was posted, it has been viewed more than 15 million times!

Needless to say, it’s easy to see why this video has become so popular.

Although all buskers and street performers who make a name for themselves are particularly talented, the control this man shows over his body is particularly impressive!
