Growing up in a big family has its pros and cons.
While going on vacation may be a hassle, there are lots of other things that you wouldn’t be able to do if you didn’t have so many people around.
One thing you could do, for example, is start a band!
The French Family Band is exactly what its name implies.
“The French Family Band – Stuie (Dad), Camille (Mum), Sonny and Manaia. Chet is playing bass on some earlier videos but is now focusing on his passion of playing soccer. Camille was born in New Zealand and Stuie is from Australia. We have been living in Nashville TN since June 2019 and we’ve been playing family livestream shows from our lounge room since we went in to lockdown in March 2020.”
Working together as a family isn’t super easy, but if there was one thing that could unite everyone together, it would be music!
Playing music as a family isn’t something you see that often nowadays, but for a lot of human history, it was a purely family event!
The French family live in Nashville, Tennessee, and sing cover songs and write their own music.
Watching them play is quite the sight, especially when you realize that some of the “musicians” are super young!
They recently released a cover of a famous Johnny Cash song named “Daddy Sang Bass” and it’s quite the experience.
You would probably describe their style as “folksy”.
They start the song off with a bit of picking
. You can immediately tell it’s a Johnny Cash song from the driving bass and the familiar back and forth plucking style of the song.
As they say, he was like a train!

Each of the kids has a part to play, too!
Lots of times kids are just in things like this for their cuteness factor.
These two, however, have a pretty big part to play!
The boy plucks around on a guitar and will occasionally sing.
His sister hops in vocally, mostly when her mom sings.
For being so young, they are pretty great.
It’s not easy to play in a band, let alone one with your family.
It takes hours of practice and preparation to learn the parts and stay on time.
Watching the video you almost can’t help but bop back and forth as you listen (one of the courtesies of any Johnny Cash song performed well).
You have to give their family props!
Kids their age don’t usually love hanging out with their parents, let alone joining them in a band!
It goes to show that they must have a pretty great relationship to keep together and playing music.
This song in particular has over 1.3 million views (and counting) – quite an impressive feat!
