Some would say that Freddie Mercury is the greatest vocalist in all of rock history.

Yes, we are talking about Freddie Mercury, frontman of the English rock band Queen. The group’s concerts are well-remembered because of huge sound systems, lighting rigs, the use of pyrotechnics, and Freddie’s extravagant costumes.

And now it seems that Mercury was so iconic that even his puppet can entertain hundreds of people!

The puppet is entertaining the citizens of Madrid at Plaza de Oriente, and everyone is loving the show.

Everyone is gathered around the mini-Freddie’s improvised stage, and everyone is dancing and singing along. There are two incredibly talented people behind the whole idea named Diana Romero and Andrés Maturana. In 2003, they started a company called Periplo Marionetas.

Romero and Maturana are specialized in designing and making all types of puppets for theatre, TV shows, or similar events.

With that being said, Freddie is not the first puppet they’ve made—but it’s the first one to attract so much attention. They’ve also made Beatles puppets, a puppet of Jack Nicholson as Joker, and many more.

“We focus on audiovisual performance that involves the audience!” That’s how Diana and Andrés describe their work. If this video is any proof, it’s definitely working—because we’re seeing a very involved audience here!

When you look at him closely, the puppet version of Freddie moves his mouth as if he were singing.

He also has a microphone, a signature yellow jacket, and some of his authentic moves have also been copied perfectly.

Andrés created the doll, and he’s the one who pulls the strings while “I Want To Break Free” blasts in the background.

Although it doesn’t seem like a puppet show could be particularly entertaining, there’s something special about this performance!

It’s hilarious. He dances just like the real Freddie, and he engages the crowd just like the late superstar would.

It’s safe to assume that people started throwing plenty of money in the hat throughout the show!

What a great sense of humor Freddie has! Of course, the man who’s moving the puppet is excellent at what he does, and the whole thing is super believable. More particularly, look at the two girls enjoying themselves!

We’ve already mentioned that everyone was loving the mini-concert. All the adults recognized the song, and they were all dancing and singing along. But most of the little kids don’t remember Freddie and have never had the opportunity to get to know Queen—maybe only through their parents. Even so, all of them are loving the puppet because it’s so amusing to them.

Andrés dances the puppet towards one girl, and she smiles widely.

Then the puppet approaches another kid, and the reaction is the same.

Imagine how happy they’ll be when they grow up and realize they’ve seen Freddie live after all.

Since this clip was posted, it has earned more than two million views on YouTube. People are thrilled because of the doll, and everyone’s commenting just how much it reminds them of old times.
