Playing the piano is a skill not reserved for many. It requires tons of patience to learn, the discipline to excel, and natural talent to develop it. It is such a beautiful instrument that most songs sound better with a piano.

Now how about playing the piano with your feet? Would that be easier? After all, it’s just similar to those dance games in the arcade where you just have to step on the right key at the right moment. Right?

You get to play and dance at the same time!

This is The Walking Piano, some people call it the Big Piano, and this wonderful invention allows the user (or users) to play around while producing notes with their feet.

It was invented invented by Remo Saraceni in the 1980’s and is basically what it looks like. We’re all just kids at heart even though lots of adults refuse to admit it. It looks like a lot of fun!

Players need lots of energy and rhythm to play on this awesome looking contraption. You’ll be moving your whole body just to get from one key to the other. That allows players a whole lot of leeway to be creative.

Like this group of four in the middle of a busy street!

They have gathered quite a huge crowd out there. Dressed in matching black outfits, these three girls and a guy quartet work together as a team, playing an incredible bit of piano with their feet.

That’s four pairs if you’re counting!

But just look at them dance on those massive keys! They are so light on their feet and the way they hit the notes seem so light and effortless. This is what countless hours of practice will do. That’s so cool!

The Walking Piano has become a hit and you’ll find them in most public places. Public squares like this one are the most common but malls and other establishments have played host to these.

You could think of it as a sort of tap dance but instead of percussion sounds, you get the lovely sounds of a piano. There are many others who have been very creative, dancing on those keys while performing for the public.

Don’t be fooled though. That’s some fine footwork they’ve got! It would be so easy to lose the counting and the timing and when that happens, the entire song would be ruined. That’s how good these four are!

This is synchronized dancing in a sense with the aim of bringing out incredible music from a giant piano. They produce a flurry of notes one after the other without even breaking a sweat. It’s like second nature to them.

It’s really catchy too! Give those onlookers coffee or something. This is a performance worth dancing to. Makes you want to buy a walking piano and practice!
