Many kids fantasize about winning the school talent show. You know, like a scene from a movie, where jaws drop and the whole auditorium roars with applause watching the performance?
Unfortunately, not every student is able to have that type of dream become a reality when it comes to their school talent show. However, just even getting up in front of classmates, parents, and teachers deserves an award on its own!
While being in the spotlight is never easy, if you’ve got your buddies with you – it can help provide some extra courage.
In a video shared on YouTube, there are four girls dressed in cowgirl gear on stage, ready to perform in front of a crowd. As one would expect, they’re likely shaking in their boots, but at least they’re not alone!
The young ladies really didn’t have anything to worry about though. After all, they had a toe-tapping performance up their sleeves that’s fun to watch.
Who’s ready for some “Hillbilly Dirty Dancing?”
That’s actually the name of the YouTube video, as the girl’s performance is set to a song called “Hillbilly Dirty Dance.” It’s perfect for their act, which revolves around some good old-fashioned clogging! In fact, the country tune can be found in the background of other clog videos too.
The four youngsters kick up their heels in a synchronized clogging routine.
You can quickly tell that the cowgirls have tons of talent. They keep their feet moving as if the stage is made of fire, which frankly, seems like it would be quite the leg workout!
They’re keeping traditions alive.
Clog dancing originated in the Appalachian Mountains and is a blending of various cultures’ step dances. It’s the official state folk dance of North Carolina and Kentucky’s official state dance.
On the State Symbols USA website it explains:
“Clogging is a percussive “foot-tapping” style of dance that evolved through the folk dance traditions of early setters from northern and western Europe (such as Holland, Germany, and the British Isles) and was further shaped by the influence of native American and African dances.”
A lot of practice must have been put in beforehand.
Not only is clogging an impressive talent to have, but dancing in unison takes hard work and dedication as well. For those of us who didn’t grow up practicing the art, being able to confidently perform like this is just plain awesome! There’s no doubt they practiced the routine numerous times in their living rooms.
It looks like they’re having a blast.
Sometimes all it takes is getting into the groove to be able to shake your nerves. Once the dancers get going it really seems as if they’re enjoying themselves. I mean, they’ve got their friends by their side, they’re rocking their performance, and it’s all to Tommy Townsend’s “Hillbilly Dirty Dance.” It doesn’t get better than that!
Every performance needs a good ending.
If you’re going to get on stage in front of an audience, it’s always nice to go out with a bang. These cowgirls decided to “throw” in their own special move – by tossing their hats, of course!
It’s unclear whether there was any kind of winner in the talent show they were participating in. Regardless, they definitely did an incredible job and earned themselves a big, well-deserved round of applause at the end. Bravo, ladies!
