It's not every day that you get a singing flight attendant on board, especially one that sounds like this.

“Delayed flight.”

I bet these two words can definitely ruin any passenger’s day.

Apart from your usual flight nightmares like rowdy co-passengers or a snoring seatmate, a delayed flight is perhaps the worst of them all, isn’t it?

Fortunately, on this particular flight, there are no travel nightmares.

Instead, the passengers were given a first-class performance by one of the airline’s flight attendants.

The talented cabin crew member performed a classic country song.

Just right for the situation, the song touched the hearts and souls of those who were missing their homes so much.

And the performance? Well, it didn’t disappoint, and soon enough you’d understand why.

According to Wikipedia, “As of April 2023, Southwest Airlines has scheduled flights to over 100 destinations in 42 states, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean, the newest being Syracuse, New York on November 14, 2021. The airline has 15 focus cities and operates over 4,000 flights each day.”

But not each flight is as special as this one.

At exactly New Year’s Day of the year 2019, a YouTube channel that goes by the name “Tim Kilgore” uploaded a video of a Southwest Airlines flight attendant.

The cabin crew member was identified in the video’s description as “Zach” and he serenaded all the passengers on board.

Using an acoustic guitar, Zach pulled off an impromptu song performance which made a lot of people miss their hometowns even more.

And there is no other song that could quite trigger those emotions better than ‘Take Me Home, Country Roads’ by John Denver.

“Take Me Home, Country Roads” was sung and released by John Denver in 1971.

The song is often linked to West Virginia because it talks a lot about the state and its pretty nature.

The song’s words are about someone thinking about their small hometown in the countryside.

They really want to go back to the calm and beautiful countryside.

The words make you remember a time when life was simpler and nature was lovely.

The verses of the song talk about things like curvy roads, rivers, mountains, and the people who live in the town.

No one could resist singing along to this 70s classic.

The song goes…

“Almost heaven, West VirginiaBlue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah RiverLife is old there, older than the treesYounger than the mountains, growin’ like a breeze”

“All my memories gather ’round herMiner’s lady, stranger to blue waterDark and dusty, painted on the skyMisty taste of moonshine, teardrop in my eye”

Zach nailed it!

His low and modulated voice was just perfect for a country song and for the song itself.

Everyone in their seats was just stunned hearing quite a talented flight attendant like Zach.

The chorus is the part that’s easy to remember and sing along to.

It says “Country roads, take me home, to the place I belong.”

This means the person really wants to go back to their familiar and comforting hometown.

In general, “Take Me Home, Country Roads” is a song full of feelings and emotions.

It’s about wanting to go back to where you came from and feeling a strong connection to the land and the people who are part of your past.

The song’s words and music are so touching that a lot of people really like it all around the world.

After serenading the passengers, Zach was met with rounds of applause.

It’s indeed an impressive surprise performance, in fact, he did the same thing just a year ago while wearing a face mask.
