Don’t you just love Golden Buzzer moments?
Even if you weren’t crazy about the act, the look on their face when they realize that their dreams are coming true is absolutely incredible.
But the moment is obviously even sweeter if you were rooting for the act to succeed!
Flau’jae is definitely one of those acts on America’s Got Talent that you want to make it all the way.
Not only is the 14-year-old a talented rapper, she is also a good role model for children younger than herself and she is trying to make a change in the world.
When she auditioned for America’s Got Talent, Flau’jae performed an original rap about gun violence that was dedicated to her father, who was the victim of a shooting.
The judges all praised her for her insightful words and Howie Mandel told her that he really hoped that America was listening to her!
When Flau’jae returned, it was with another original rap and this time, the judge that she really impressed was the guest judge, Chris Hardwick.
Before Flau’jae performed, Simon Cowell asked her to tell the audience her father’s story again.
He was an up and coming rapper who was set to sign a contract with Universal Records. But two days before he was going to sign the paperwork, he was murdered.
Flau’jae wasn’t even born yet, her mother was still pregnant with her at the time of her father’s death. So, the 14-year-old dedicated the performance to her late father. Flau’jae said:
“My whole goal is to continue my father’s legacy. I feel like he died too early, that’s what I feel. He had a dream and he had things he wanted to do and I’m going to do them for him.”
Her original song was written about her life so far and she titled it “I Can’t Lose.”
After she finished her heartfelt and earnest rap, Mel B was quick to tell Flau’jae that she felt she was so talented.
Howie then told her that he felt like she was already a star! Simon told her how excited he was that she’d even come on America’s Got Talent.
Chris Hardwick had a lot to tell Flau’jae. The judge said:
“I have goosebumps and I am shaking a little bit. I want to tell you something, at 14 years old, you have the kind of authenticity and honesty that some artists never achieve in their entire lives. You were not given the chance to have a relationship with your father, you weren’t given a chance then, but I want to make sure you get a chance now.”
After that, Chris hit his Golden Buzzer and Flau’jae literally collapsed to the ground out of happiness. Her mom could be seen jumping around in the crowd afterward.
Chris got up from his seat and joined Flau’jae on the stage to congratulate and console her.
Do you think that Flau’jae deserved the Golden Buzzer? I loved her rap and thought it was so original. Sound off in the comments on Facebook!
