Some people don’t know that they can dance unless they give it a try.
Especially when it’s Flamenco we are talking about because for starters, this dance is not easy at all! Not everyone can sway and shake and move like a Flamenco dancer, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be done. With enough practice and love for the dance, anybody can be a great Flamenco dancer.
This is why a group of Flamenco dancers conducted a legendary flash mob on the streets of Oslo, Norway. Their impromptu dance number was aimed at inspiring more people to try out Flamenco and appreciate the beauty of the said dancing style.
In the video uploaded on YouTube, a woman can be seen as she slowly walks in the middle of the busy Oslo street. She was looking around, glancing at her surroundings until she halted and clapped her hands.
People around her were curious so they stopped to see what she was going to do next. What she did took them by surprise.
The woman sang in a loud and clear voice, which prompted her to start her dance as well. She was dancing Flamenco and the attention of people around her was instantly piqued.
A few moments later, a man joined her performance and another one came around after a few more minutes. The three of them were dancing and their moves were totally mesmerizing.
People took out their phones to capture the incredible moment. Their performance ended and the crowd was quick to applaud their captivating flash dance amidst the busy street.
But, if they thought it was the end of the epic flash mob, they were in for a surprise.
Just as the three dancers went to the side of the road, a woman took their place and stood in the middle. She was poised for dancing but moving in small steps only. It was as if she was inviting everyone to join her. The crowd took the hint and soon enough, a large group of people was standing behind her, waiting for her to move so they can follow.
It was then that the woman finally danced and showed everyone that anybody can dance Flamenco if we only give it a try. Her dance was filled with energy and she did a good job of sharing this energy with everyone who was with her in that street turned dance floor.
The sight of all those people dancing Flamenco was quite epic, indeed! Sure, Flamenco may look like a difficult dance, but the smiles on the dancers’ faces just proved that it is a fun style, too!
The flash mob ended with a bang, leaving everyone who got to witness it with a better idea of what Flamenco is all about. Through this project, the Oslo Flamenco Festival, Flamenco Norge and everyone who joined the fun event hoped to inspire more people to try Flamenco.
