Last September, this spoken word artist made AGT history when he graced the stage with his incredible poetry and took it all the way to the finals.

The judges are almost brought to tears by his moving words, in a poem that he made for his young daughter.

Brandon Leake is the spoken word poet who shocked the world by being the first poet to ever perform on America’s Got Talent.

Leake is a motivational speaker, poet and teacher who took his talent to the stage of AGT where it paid off in a huge way.

The talented speaker wasn’t always so lucky though, this was the second time he tried out for AGT with the first audition ending in rejection.

In the finals round, he starts reading a poem talking directly to his daughter and immediately captivates the crowd and judges alike.

After singing a song his wife sings to daughter “Jesus Loves Me,” Leake begins the beautiful poem saying:

“I listen to your mother sing this song to you overnight, and the craziest part is, you ain’t going to remember any of this.

All these moments that we share will simply slip into the forgotten pages of the past for you, but only for you.

Because I will never forget.

Never forget all the things that you made me feel, how I was already in love with you before I ever could hold you as your mother cradled you into existence.”

It’s not just the touching words that make him so great, but also his brilliant timing and perfect delivery.

During the season 15 finale, Leake goes deeper and deeper as his final poem progresses into a touching masterpiece that could make even the hardest of hearts get misty-eyed.

His words of inspiration, struggle, heartache, loss and strained relationships, ring true to so many people out there.

They too just want the best for their daughter, and they too have felt the same emotions Leak brings forth in his words. He touches on so many different subjects but ends with a prayer that resonates with every parent.

“I pray, dear God, I know that you cared for my daughter before she was ever in her mother’s womb, and I just pray, that your largest of blessings wait in her storehouse of destiny. Cuz I know ain’t none of us are perfect…..But my daughter, she’s perfect,” Leake says as he ends the poem.

For his part, Howie Mandel was floored by the performance he witnessed:

“You leave me speechless, you really do. I’ve never experienced anything like this in my life, and especially on this show. Number one, I’ve never really experienced poetry. You move people, you move the world, you move us more than anybody does, we get to know you like nobody else.”

After winning AGT’s season 15, Leake was signed by the United Talent Agency and even made it on Ellen.
