When you watch a show with multiple performers, you’re always in for a treat.
It’s either perfect synchronization or fierce competition.
Indeed, there are few things as entertaining as cooperation and animosity.
This performance has both cooperation AND fierce animosity, and the quartet that pulled it off is incredible.
Look at these four ladies. They’re called Salut Salon.
We’ve got two violins, one on the cello, and one on the piano.
Their outfits match- they’re all in black dresses. So are they a team or not?
Well, yes, but keep watching.
See, they are part of one act.
But they don’t want you to think that at first.
See those looks in their eyes? Those are eyes filled with bitterness and competition.
Perhaps all an act, but still.
The first one knows the crowd is waiting and starts going to town on her cello.
Cello girl does some intense scales and shows off her intense dexterity and command of the instrument.
But one of her partners isn’t going to let her have the crowd’s attention all to herself.
She’s not the only one with a string instrument in here.
Violin girl number 1 scooches over to steal the scene and flips her hair in cello girl’s face.
You know, just to really let her know “It’s my turn.”
She plays a sick violin melody with the same scale that cello girl was playing.
Cello girl tries to spar musically with her for a bit, but then they’re interrupted by the piano girl.
Now it’s a 3-way fight between two string instruments and a piano.
It’s getting intense.
Cello girl is trying to one-up the competition by playing it behind her back.
These girls show off incredible coordination and dexterity.
It’s hard enough to play an instrument, let alone behind your back.
Could it possibly get any more intense?
Yes, it absolutely could.
There’s another violin girl who’s been sitting back this whole time.
She looked like she wanted a piece of her stage-mates too, so she hops in.
And to remind all of us that this is a rehearsed act, they start holding down notes and chords for each other’s instruments while the other person plays.
It’s a fantastic exhibition of musical skill, and it just keeps going.
Now, piano girl is going to steal the moment.
Now that team strings have had their spotlight, it’s time for her to show what her fingers and these keys can do.
She starts with a simple few chords and melodies.
Then piano girl takes it up a notch.
She does this by lying down on her back and playing the keys with her hands crossed while not even looking at the piano.
Yeah, you’ll be hard-pressed to find someone who can do that too.
And while she’s doing that, cello girl walks over and hangs her cello just low enough for piano girl to pluck some strings while her other hand is on the keys.
Now, she’s playing a sick bassline on the cello with one hand, and going to town on the piano with the other.
That’s some phenomenal skill right there, and I’m blown away.
The crowd’s applause is loud and clear. These girls are incredible.
And to wrap things up, the quartet plays together in perfect harmony.
The crowd loved it, and these four clearly owned the night.
