Some performances captivate you from start to finish.
For the ones that do, there’s a good chance you want to watch them over and over again—and the video of these two talented friends singing “Feeling Good” is definitely one of them. The depth, power and raw vocals in this musical spectacle will bring chills down your spine.
This artistic display is bound to make you feel something!
YouTube sensation Sam Tompkins and his friend Ren stopped at the piano in a Brighton, UK train station one day.
Though they started off by just playing around, they gradually set into a truly impressive cover for all the people skating that day. The song “Feeling Good” was originally written by English composers Anthony Newley and Leslie Bricusse, but its most well-known version is probably the one sung by Nina Simone in 1965. In this video, musicians Tompkins and his friend Ren decided to give the song their own best shot.
At the beginning of the video, Tompkins comes out swinging with some raw vocals right off the bat. You see him standing behind the piano with both hands in his puffy red coat while Ren jams out on the piano.
Tompkins has such a unique voice, with a smooth but raspy tone.
As he sings, Ren plays the keys while adding in some of his own twists as well.
You can see passersby stopping to snap videos of the talented duo. The whole time, Tompkins keeps wailing out the words to the famous song. The passion in his voice is palpable, making people curious as to who’s singing the beautiful tunes.
He keeps giving a roaring rendition of the song while rocking back and forth, hands still shoved in his pockets. Before long, Ren comes out of left-field to give his friend a breather—and it turns out he’s just as talented a singer!
When Ren takes over the vocals, he continues to play the piano while belting out the words as well.
Just when you thought Sam would be the only one singing, Ren comes out with some jaw-dropping vocals that will leave you stunned. The fact that he’s able to play the piano and sing like that at the same time is ridiculous.
Before long, he hands it back to Tompkins, who picks it up a notch not to let Ren outdo him. Tompkins starts to hit notes that don’t even seem possible—I didn’t think octaves could go that high!
Towards the end, Tompkins sings in an insanely high voice—even adding in a follow through with his hand as if he’s shooting a basketball.
Tompkins and Ren absolutely kill this! They deliver a one-of-a-kind performance of “Feeling Good” that even Nina Simone would be proud of. Throughout the whole song, the two friends vibe off of each other’s energy so well.
The video has already gone viral after being posted less than a month ago. Given the duo’s sheer talent and Tompkins’s 140,000 subscribers, they’re practically unstoppable! With 143,000 people who have already viewed the video and almost 8,000 who liked it, these two are bound to hit a million views on this in no time.
Tompkins and Ren are no strangers to going viral. As it turns out, they have several performances together that have all made a stir on the internet.
