This father-son quartet on Britain’s Got Talent told a touching story and caught the judges off guard.

We see it time and time again: parents who have an incredible talent which they pass down to their children. This family is the perfect example of that, and it has a serious effect on Simon Cowell.

Their vocal group is called The Neales, and it consists of father Laurie and his three sons James, Dan and Phil Neale.

In the 2015 Britain’s Got Talent audition, The Neales shared their heartwarming back story—one that would make anyone a little teary-eyed. All the brothers have serious careers, but they made the time to make a musical group with their father because they learned just how fragile life can be.

Their music is wonderful, but it’s the story behind their quartet that had people getting mushy.

It starts when celebrity judge Amanda Holden asks The Neales, “So what made you form this group?”

After that, they answer:

“Ten years ago our dad had a heart attack, and that made him realize he needed to change the way he lives his life, pursue the thing that he loves, and that’s singing. And the three of us here because we realized the reason that he had that heart attack because he had run himself into the ground trying to provide for us.” One of the sons explains.

That’s when Laurie says:

“When we sing together it is a magical moment, and I just think we found something that you only find in times of adversary.”

Their silky smooth voices blend together perfectly, making their performance captivate everyone—including the judges.

The performance has Simon Cowell smiling from ear-to-ear the entire time and even gets a standing ovation from the entire audience.

When they finish, Simon immediately gives them praise saying:

“You know what, I absolutely loved that audition. Just to see you supporting each other, and the fantastic band, um, it was just amazing.”

Their story is so inspiring—not only did they get to light the stage on fire on Britain’s Got Talent, but their dreams of making a music career happen for their dad actually came true in a huge way.

The brothers were also social media sensations, gaining millions of views across YouTube’s platform alone. Stories like this one always strike an emotional nerve. Family is so important, and it’s not every day you see a family so close that can share a dream like this with.

We just hope we get to see more of The Neales in the future!
