We’ve all heard the saying “like father, like son,” but these two take it to another level.
Both for their amazing musical talent, and the adorable nature of the performance. To make it even cuter, the 5-year-old drummer and his father who is a pianist, dedicate the song to “Mom and Shia” but little boy keeps turning to his mom to make sure she’s watching.
This kid was born to be a rock star!
Five-year-old Justin Wilson II and his father play “Wake Me Up” with the young drummer hilariously calling out to his mom in excitement the whole performance.
Now six years old, Justin Wilson II or “LJ” has already been in the spotlight for quite some time. His endearing performances are the catalyst to their family’s YouTube channel blowing up to 224,000 subscribers and started when the tiny drumming prodigy was just two years old.
In this heartwarming video, LJ and his dad sit back to back and have a jam session to “Wake Me Up” that would brighten anyone’s day.
The song is dedicated to “Mom and Shia,” a fact that this five-year-old isn’t going to let viewers forget.
As soon as the song starts, LJ twists his head around to make sure his mother is watching the song he’s playing for her.
It’s impossible not to love little LJ, the sweet little boy is more concerned with making sure his mom hears the song he’s playing for her but it only highlights how talented he is.
Even as he’s distracted by looking for mom, LJ’s muscle memory takes over and the gifted kid plays “Wake Me Up” to perfection.
Just 51 seconds into the performance, LJ turns around to mouth “mom” for the second time.
About 1:13 into the video, LJ launches into an excellent solo that is way beyond his years.
Seeing him play the drums like this is nothing less than extraordinary!
The love young LJ has for music and his family is written all over his face.
After he finishes his awesome solo, he spins his head around and starts mouthing the words to his mom in a hysterical fashion.
LJ and his dad play the song from start to finish, adding their own flair and a bit of comedy along the way.
LJ already has a presence that takes many artists years to perfect. It doesn’t hurt that he’s one of the cutest and funniest kids you’ll see on YouTube—and did I mention his first video was him drumming as a toddler at just two years old?
Since then, the Wilson family has been posting his drumming progress on their YouTube channel Wilson World.
LJ’s musical talent is passed down from both parents, his mother is an outstanding singer and his dad is a Grammy-winning musician!
