People everywhere are trying to adjust to being homebound, including kids and teens who are usually attending school at this point in the year. But while daily life hasn’t looked the same – some families are discovering positive activities to fill their time.
15-year-old Savanna Shaw and her father Mat have been sharing beautiful music with the world over the last several weeks. Their duets are created in their Utah home and are lifting spirits across the internet. If you’re in need of a little brightness in your day – just wait until you hear their rendition of “A Million Dreams.”
Teenagers these days seem to constantly be on their phones checking social media (adults too). However, Savanna isn’t your typical teenager according to her dad. That’s because she didn’t have an account until just recently when she requested to get one to stay connected to her friends from choir.
For her first Instagram video, Savanna and Mat sat down and sang “The Prayer” together as a father-daughter duet.
Their stunning voices combined with the powerful song has touched viewers’ hearts and left many teary.
A week later, they also shared the video on a YouTube channel they created – along with the following inspiring message.
“With everything that is going on in the world, sometimes its best to pause and remember the simple prayer of a father and daughter for ‘life to be kind.'”
By no surprise, their “Prayer” duet went viral and has been viewed over 2.8 million times in less than a month. It also has more than 75K “likes.”
Fortunately, Savanna and Mat decided to continue spreading positivity with their music and have created additional videos.
On their channel now (which has only been around since the beginning of March) there are duets of uplifting songs like “True Colors,” “Fall On Me,” and “I See the Light.”
There’s also a breathtaking version of the song, “A Million Dreams,” which comes from the film The Greatest Showman. It’s one that’s also gathered an amazing amount of views in a short period of time.
In the video description, Mat left the following message:
“Savanna is unique. A 15 yr old without social media, until last week when she asked if she could start a singing Instagram account to keep in touch with her choir friends. She asked if we could record “The Prayer” together for her first post.”
He continued:
“Never in “a million dreams” would we have expected it to become what it has. I am so beyond grateful for all the kind words, the support in sharing our video, and mostly for the time shared together with my daughter. Thank you, thank you!”
Savanna and Mat are both incredibly gifted singers, and when they blend their voices the sound is heavenly. Watching them together is melting a lot of hearts into puddles.
Their video of “A Million Dreams” has gathered comments like:
“Simply stunning – two wonderful voices in perfect harmony. What would the world be like without great music like this? Thank you to both of you.”
Another viewer wrote:
“I just love them. Hard to find inspiration now, but this is so uplifting and beautiful.”
