We all love a good song parody. There is something about taking something that everyone knows and using creative wizardry on it to make it into something brand new. With parody, we can make any song into something hilarious that the original writers would have never imagined!
To put it simply, a parody is a funny version of something.
If you watch SNL (Saturday Night Live) at all, they often do parodies of real-life events. When a parody is really creative, you can see the elements from the original AND the new parts that make your sides hurt from laughing!

One of the biggest songs of the last 10 years had so many parodies it’s hard to keep track of.
The artist LMFAO appeared in a blaze of marketing glory and then disappeared just as fast, leaving us with an album that some love, some hate, and others parody! Of the songs written in the last decade or so, few rival the sheer popularity of “Sexy and I Know It.”
Of the many parodies that have stemmed from the original song, this one is one of the best!
A group of people from the YouTube channel Peterson Farm Bros decided to do their own version of Sexy and I Know It. Taking what they do and know in their everyday life, the version they came up with was a perfect reflection! They called it “I’m Farming and I Grow It”.
The famous snare/kick track comes in, and we see three tank-top shirted guys walking through a field!
Right from the get-go, we know this will be choc-full of some hilarious farming stereotypes. After the dramatic entrance, another guy pulls up in a pickup truck and proceeds to explain how his day starts!
Moving hay and driving a tractor, the guy shows us what it’s like to live as a farmer!
A few scenes later and we get to the famous line “I’m sexy and I know it” – only this time, it’s a little more rural. As cows shuffle in the background, the three guys sing in their bassiest voice, “Gotta feed everybody” over and over! Standing in front of a sign that says “1 Kansas farmer feeds 128 people”, you can tell they take their work seriously!
For a video filmed by farmers almost 10 years ago, they did a great job!
Over the course of the three-minute parody, you are bound to learn more about farming than you ever have before. From growing plants to raising animals, all the guys work out(side) all day long. These kids probably never expected the video to blow up like it did either! It currently has over 11 million views, and from the comments, people around the world loved it.
The song is now OFFICIALLY stuck in your head now, too!
You can’t help it. The next time that you are out at the grocery store or something and the song “I’m Sexy” comes on, you will find yourself comparing avocados while mouthing to yourself, “water-water-water-water-water, yeah.”
