For many years now, we’ve seen artists mingling different styles of music to come up with unique sounds. We’ve also seen musicians turn away from their standard genre to something different. A perfect example…Rod Stewart who went from soft rock to making tracks of classical favorites.

Amazing combination

Sometimes, merging two different styles of music works, and other times, not so much. But recently, people were amazed when they heard what they thought was impossible. That consisted of the song “Silent Night” performed in the Boogie-Woogie style.

How it unfolded

This unbelievable experience began inside a shopping mall. Especially in European countries, it’s common to see a piano that anyone can play. Well, on this particular day, a man sits down while a few people look on.

Alluring music

Initially, the song was lyrical and festive. Remember, this happened during the Christmas holiday so that’s what people would expect to hear. There was no question this man had talent, which immediately caught shoppers’ attention.

But it wasn’t mind-blowing

Yes, the sound of the piano was beautiful. And yes, several people took the time to listen. But it wasn’t anything that caused a crowd to gather. At least not at first. But that would soon change.

A familiar song

Shortly after this man began to play the piano, people recognized the song “Silent Night.” It was a different take on it, which made it all the more magical. Still, it was more in a traditional style.

The big changeup

Then, the guy’s playing changed dramatically. It went from soft and sweet to Boogie-Woogie. As soon as that happened, the number of people around him grew. We’re pretty sure none of them had ever heard Silent Night played this way.

People start filming

This was such an unusual yet exciting performance that individuals pulled out their cell phones to start recording. Keep in mind that someone with the man was filming too. That video ended up on social media and garnered more than 835,000 views. Pretty impressive.

Not an ordinary man

Come to find out, the man tickling the ivories was none other than Terry Miles. He’s a famous British musician who travels the world performing at multiple venues. Sometimes, he even does street performances.

Now it made sense

Not only was this piano player an incredibly talented artist but also someone who had the ability to mingle different styles of music and make it work. And that’s what he did. The people at the mall that day had no idea the treat that was coming their way.

More surprises

While playing, a young man walks over to the piano, whips out a harmonica, and joins Miles. It’s iconic. But then, Brendan Kavanagh appears. What started out as a solo number of Silent Night on the piano became a duet. For those of you who don’t recognize that name, Kavanagh is another famous Boogie-Woogie piano player known around the world.

Incredibly talented

This wasn’t an expensive piano. Instead, it was an older one that thousands of other people had played over the years. Even so, Miles and his guests nailed it. A day of shopping for Christmas presents quickly turned into a magical moment for a lot of people.
