This young lady is from Switzerland, and she is into music, dancing, swimming, and basketball.
All really good activities but it’s music where young Emilia truly shines.
On The Voice Kids France, Emilia shows her affinity for rock and roll, playing her guitar while singing as if she’s been at it for many years.
She’s one confident young woman that’s for sure.
Emilia Whittle performed Bob Dylan’s “Knockin’ on heaven’s door” which had the four judges immediately interested.
Jenifer, Patrick Fiori, Soprano and Kendji Girac were all ears listening to Emilia’s deep, rumbling voice sing out the first verse and chorus.
It doesn’t take long for three of them to hit those buttons that have those chairs spinning around though.
To be fair, Emilia was a bit shaky in certain parts of the song.
But at her age, to stand on stage and sing a rock classic is in itself an impressive show of guts and talent.
“Knockin’ on heaven’s door” was written for the soundtrack of the 1973 film, Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid.
Bob Dylan’s iconic hit was released two months after the movie’s premiere, reaching the top 10 in several countries.
It is one of Dylan’s most popular and most covered songs.
Eric Clapton, Guns N’ Roses, Randy Crawford and many others have covered this slow, somber song.
Dylan biographer Clinton Heylin describes the song as “an exercise in splendid simplicity”.
Rolling Stone magazine ranked it number 190 in 2004, in their 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
That’s why the song endures to this day, even with kids Emilia’s age singing and performing Dylan’s classic.
Just wait until Emilia matures and polishes her talents even further.
She’s a rock and roll fan, so it’s a safe bet that this young lady will follow in the footsteps of Stevie Nicks and the like.
What’s mind blowing here is when Emilia changes pitch, from a low, bassy rumble to a high, powerful one that just suddenly brings out all the emotions of the song.
That’s what got three judges spinning on their seats.
5,823,542 views and growing are a testament to Emilia’s rocking audition.
She’s not bad for a young teenager with a guitar on a stage seen all over the world. 27,000 likes is an awesome achievement on YouTube.
Soprano, Jenifer, and Kendji are loving what they’re hearing, and are even more impressed at the confidence young Emilia is showing.
And her shaky, sometimes off-key singing can be fixed. After all, those judges are also coaches.
Exposure on a show like The Voice will only have many important people interested in her. She’s very passionate!
Give her a few more years. With the right coaching, and a lot more experience, she’ll be rocking shows and lighting up stages all over Europe, and soon the whole world.
Emillia was knocking and the door was opened. And in rock and roll, you don’t beg, you grab and steal the show.
