The legendary Elvis Presley left this world more than four decades ago. But through the power of technology, some of his classics have been given new life over the years – and even transformed into breathtaking duets.
Celine Dion, Susan Boyle, and Martina McBride are all artists who’ve been lucky enough to “take the stage” with The King in more recent times. Another is vocalist Helene Fischer, whose “live” duet with Elvis is beautifully chilling.
Fischer is an award-winning music star in Germany, and there, her popularity is through the roof.
According to the Star-Telegram, Fischer is originally from Russia, but she moved to her current country when she was young. She’s well-known for covering the music genre “schlager,” which Americans might compare to “pop.”
In the past, Fischer’s collaborated with huge artists like Andrea Bocelli, Tom Jones, Ricky Martin, Josh Groban, and the group il Divo for duets.
There’s one duet she did that’s quite extraordinary.
Fischer had the opportunity to contribute to Elvis’ 2016 posthumous album The Wonder of You, which was done with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. On the album is a bonus track of “Just Pretend,” and it’s a special duet between Fischer and The King.
One audience was given an unforgettable performance of “Just Pretend” while attending the Helene Fischer Show that year.
In the video below, Fischer is in the middle of the stage with a large screen to her side. Suddenly, the late Elvis Presley lights up the screen, and the music to “Just Pretend” begins playing in the background.
Elvis sings the first lines of the song with his iconic voice as Fischer stands silently. Despite the footage being from 1970 – it gives the illusion that he’s there that evening for the televised event.
A short time in Fischer takes over and she sings like an angel.
Fischer isn’t well-known in the United States, but once you hear her voice, you might become a big fan yourself. A couple of viewers felt she reminded them of a young Olivia Newton-John.
You can tell the pop star has a lot of passion by the way she belts out the lyrics.

Elvis and Fischer eventually sing together and the results are absolutely glorious. While it’s unknown what exactly the audience members were feeling at the moment – many viewers have been blown away by the combo’s sound.

The performance isn’t just spell-binding to listen to, watching the pair sing together is magical as well.
While the artists aren’t realistically on the same stage, nor are they even in the same time period – it’s a duet that flows seamlessly. One person even felt emotional watching it, commenting:
“Wow that brought a lump to my throat…brilliant”
Another said:
“It will never get any better than this. Perfect!! I would imagine God sitting upon a cloud thinking what a great idea it was to give humans a voice.”
