Electro-swing dance sensation performs amongst beautiful Italian scenery

June 10th, 2021

With its peak in the 1930s and 1940s, swing dancing is still a widely popular form of dance even today. But in recent years, swing has received a bit of a makeover.

Sven Otten is a German dance sensation who is attributed with creating the dance genre of neo-swing, also known as electric swing dance.

Neo-swing combines elements of the Charleston, Tectonic, and the Melbourne Shuffle, transforming classical swing dances into modern-day styles. While keeping all of the original energy, Otten created a genre that fares well against modern music, and it is nothing short of impressive.

Set against stunning Italian scenery, Otten dances to Wolfgang Lohr and Varrick Frost’s hit song “Sweet Dreams.”

The video begins as Otten adjusts his tie in preparation for the big video. He instantly transitions to fancy footwork! He’s more than just good. Otten is truly great!

With his upbeat dance style and fast footwork, he’s truly footloose and fancy-free! We can understand why he became a viral sensation. There’s no one else who dances quite like him.

This dance video is sure to brighten spirits because let’s face it, Otten’s got some serious moves!

We’re not sure which is more impressive: his crazy dance moves or his ability to keep his hat on throughout all of that fast-paced footwork. The hat alone could not be an easy feat.

He’s getting a full workout in with this routine!

If you were to dance like this every day, you definitely wouldn’t need Pilates anymore. That routine looks like a full cardio session in itself. It’s probably quite a bit more fun, as well.

The camera angles shift and we get another glimpse into more Italian scenery!

Insane dancing and beautiful cityscapes, what’s there not to love? Otten is giving us all a treat in both entertainment and travel. We only wish that we could view this performance live!

The video continues, and we get over a minute of pure dance bliss.

Otten is just too good not to watch! He’s making us want to break out our dancing shoes and give neo-swing a go, but in the privacy of our own homes, of course…

Otten has even helped millions of people to learn to dance the neo-swing genre.

If you’re wanting to learn from the best, Otten created a dance academy on his YouTube channel specifically geared toward helping others learn to dance his unique style.

So you may be wondering how exactly Otten became such an iconic dancer?

Otten is completely self-taught, learning most of his moves from YouTube tutorials! Soon, Otten began uploading his own dance videos to YouTube and quickly went viral.

Much of Otten’s early success is attributed to his YouTube channel, Sven Otten – JustSomeMotion.
