When it comes to dancing, some people believe there’s an age limit. In truth, many kids start to dance at just six months old while others still kick up their heels on the dance floor well into their 60s, 70s, and even 80s. One elderly couple proved this point when they gave an unbelievable performance.
Detmar and Nellia
Regardless of the style of Swing, this dance isn’t for the faint of heart. It requires a lot of synchronization, coordination, balance, and stamina. Those aren’t things you’d think of when talking about older dancers. But for Detmar and Nellia, they surpassed everyone’s expectations.
They went viral
Shortly after competing in the 2019 “Rock That Swing” festival, a video of this couple’s routine was uploaded to social media. Quickly, it reached more than 26 million views. That’s right, more than 26 million people couldn’t wait to see what they did.
“Never Stop Jiving”
That was the song the couple danced to. It’s fast, which means whoever dances to it has to keep up. Well, Detmar and Nellia had no trouble doing that. In fact, they had so much energy that some of the younger people in the audience were probably stunned.
They’ve got it going on
Detmar, dressed in a smart-looking blue suit, and Nellia, in a dress with matching colors, looked more like an elderly married couple than fierce dance competitors. But from the second the music started everyone knew they were serious. And incredibly talented.

Realizing this duo had some major dance moves, people in the audience began to cheer. They were shocked at just how good this pair was. Their footwork was on point and their routine perfectly choreographed.
Definite pros
We’re not sure of their exact age, but we’re guessing they’re at least in their 70s. And from what it appears, they’ve loved Swing dance for a long time. Who knows, maybe they’ve been partners for decades.
Natural entertainers
Between the slides, glides, turns, twists, and even a little bit of hip action, they’re natural on the dance floor. Every step was in perfect timing to the music and flawlessly performed. This was the kind of routine you could watch all day and never get tired of it.

It wasn’t just their impeccable dance moves that made this couple so fun to watch. Throughout the entire two and a half-minute routine, they never stopped smiling. The entertained.
