By now, most people have heard of Ed Sheeran.
He started off slowly, but he has since become one of the biggest and most iconic pop artists of his generation.

In this performance, Sheeran performs two of his songs, “Don’t” and “Nina,” live in Dublin, Ireland.

At an acoustic club called Ruby Sessions on College Street in Dublin, Sheeran paid a visit to play a show for some of his adoring fans.
Both of the original songs he plays in this clip are about Sheeran’s past relationships with other singer-songwriters. As it turns out, this cli was also the first time he ever played “Nina” in front of a crowd!

With his acoustic guitar wrapped around his arms, he kicks off with the all-too-familiar F-minor chord progression of “Don’t.”
With its fast tempo and tongue-twisting verses, the song is almost like a rap track set to acoustic music—but still, Sheeran casually tells his fans that he is no rapper (sometimes through song).
Even so, Sheeran surprised the crowd that night with his unexpected medley of songs.

Near the end of his first song, he inserts some lyrics from Chris Brown’s song, “Loyal” but puts a spin on them.
Sheeran sings it as “these girls ain’t loyal,” and almost immediately, the crowd was roped into the hype. Still, they didn’t expect more as Sheeran transitioned to Blackstreet’s old-time classic, “No Diggity (No Doubt).”

By now, the whole crowd was cheering—but Sheeran still had more surprises up his sleeve.
Next up, he starts to sing an excerpt from Dr. Dre’s “The Next Episode.” It’s amazing how Sheeran nail these two rap classics while still maintaining his acoustic style! Sheeran’s audience sang along with him, and the interaction between him and the crowd was so perfect!

For the finale, he finally reveals his own original song, “Nina.”

After the wild crowd’s sing-along with the singer, Sheeran transitioned to his last song of the set.
The song was released on his album X (Multiply). The song was about his relationship with his ex-girlfriend Nina Nesbitt, who was also a famous singer-songwriter.

Using the same chord progression the entire time, Sheeran managed to fit in four songs and gave his crowd one hell of a show!
The fact that he made all of the songs that much fresher than their studio-recorded versions proves that he truly is a talented performer. Since the clip was posted, it has received an impressive 22 million views.

As most people know, Sheeran made it big with his album X (Multiply), though especially with his song “Thinking Out Loud” which earned a Grammy Award for Song of The Year and Best Pop Solo Performance.

In 2017, he released another sales-breaking album called Divide with the top-selling songs, “Shape of You” and “Castle on the Hill.”
The British singer-songwriter is now happily married to his wife Cherry Seaborn. As he is currently taking a break from songwriting after his most recently released collaboration album project, No. 5 Collaboration, fans will have to make do with his current releases until he decides to release some new music. In the meantime, we’ll be watching this performance over and over again!
