It’s that time of the year again!

Everything’s turning white, red and green with a dash of gold here and there. And what better way to welcome the season than with festive songs like this one!

We’ve all got our favorite Christmas carols ranging from the traditional to the more merry pop variations.

But wait until you hear Ed and Elton’s new single!

The title is a very straightforward “Merry Christmas” with a colorful video directed by Jason Koenig. And if you’re fans of both artists, you’ll notice scenes that pay homage to legacy No. 1 Christmas music videos and iconic Christmas films.

British personalities like Mr Blobby, Jonathan Ross, Big Narstie, Michael McIntyre and the Darkness all make appearances to remake scenes from Wham!’s “Last Christmas,” the Snowman’s “Walking in the Air,” and others.

Put those trees up already!

It’s a silly, feel-good video that’s got all the right feels we all so rightfully deserve!

“So kiss me under the mistletoe
Pour out the wine, let’s toast and pray for December snow
I know there’s been pain this year, but it’s time to let it go
Next year, you never know”

Sheeran and John joyfully sings,

“But for now, Merry Christmas, we’ll
Dance in the kitchen while embers glow
We’ve both known love, but this love we got is the bеst of all
I wish you could see it through my eyes, then you would know
My God, you look bеautiful
Right now, Merry Christmas”

And as Ed makes his way outside, a larger-than-life snowman costume greets him like the 1985 Shakin’ Stevens “Merry Christmas Everyone” music video. The snowman guides Sheeran through the air just like the “Walking In the Air” segment in the 1982 animated film The Snowman.

It was Elton John who reached out to Sheeran about doing a Christmas song together.

“Elton rung me on Christmas Day to say Merry Christmas,” sheeran says admitting that he and John talk “almost every single day.”

“He rung me on Christmas Day and he said, ‘”Step Into Christmas’ is No. 6 in the charts, and I’m 74, and I’m still having f—ing chart hits, this is great! I want to do another Christmas song, will you do it with me?”

Sheeran’s only conditions were that they were to go all in with Christmas.

We’re all glad they did it!

The song was co-written by both artists and profits will be donated equally between the Ed Sheeran Suffolk Music Foundation and The Elton John AIDS Foundation. That’s the spirit of giving!

It is certainly a catchy tune, one listeners will put on repeat in the shower, the car, or even at work. The lyrics are really easy to follow too so go ahead and memorize the words!
