Ed Sheeran’s latest album ‘Divide’ was nominated for a Grammy as the Best Pop Album. On that album, was a song aptly titled ‘Perfect.’ Last month, Sheeran collaborated with Beyoncé to remix the song, and just recently — he’s given fans another reboot of the gorgeous song.
Ed Sheeran teamed up with classical opera singer Andrea Bocelli to redo ‘Perfect’ in a unique, symphonic rendition.
The moment the intimate video was released on YouTube, it was an instant success. Since its upload, it has been viewed over 18.2 million times with no signs of slowing down. That’s because the collaboration of two incredibly different singers is such an interesting concept.
The video was filmed at Bocelli’s home in Tuscany, Italy. There are pictures of him with various famous celebrities hung on his studio’s wall. Some candid footage shows Sheeran browsing the photos in awe of Bocelli’s experiences.
Matthew, Sheeran’s brother, is a classical composer and arranged the duet between the two superstars.
“Orchestral version of ‘Perfect’ with the amazing Andrea Bocelli comes out Friday. Orchestrated and produced by my super talented brother Matt, little gift for you all before Christmas,” the U.K. singer captioned on Instagram, hinting at the release a while back.
Both of the recording artists, along with Sheeran’s brother, did not fail to deliver. Sheeran and Bocelli alternate singing lead vocals, in completely perfect, but totally different, tones and pitches. Sheeran’s lovable, soft and smooth voice sweetly sings the lyrics, while Bocelli brings his powerful and operatic tenor vocals to track.
During the last moments of the song, Sheeran surprises his fans by singing a few lyrics in Italian.
Needless to say, the internet fell in love with the beautiful rendition.
“All I can say is ‘WOW'”
“I just found the PERFECT song for my wedding dance”
“I’m a metalhead and I love this duet…”
The Beyoncé version of ‘Perfect’ currently holds the number one spot on the singles charts in the U.K., U.S., and Australia. However, now that Sheeran has partnered with Bocelli, the ‘Perfect Symphony’ version could be 2017’s number one Christmas song. The opera star is a legend in his own right with over 80 million album sales.
The beautiful, powerful, and unique performance below is guaranteed to leave you in total awe of both of these talented artists.
