Salsa Cabaret champs once again!

Ricardo and Karen are no novices to the Latin dance scene, and they are not afraid to show this.

From the moment that they stepped out on stage; they had the crowd in awe. Karen was clad in a delicate and eye-catching ensemble while Ricardo was in a fine suit to match. The crowd met them with cheers. Ricardo returned the enthusiasm by lifting Karen completely onto his shoulder.

A divine performance

The two kicked off the performance with a vigorous move wherein Ricardo spun Karen toward the ground. In true salsa nature, the two expressed a variety of impossible spins, lifts, and mid-air twirls.

But the part of the routine that made the crowd go crazy was when Karen crouched on one foot while holding the other, and Ricardo spun her by the hand for fifteen seconds before the two continued to light up the floor.

Their movement was fluid as always, and the duo appeared to move as a single entity throughout the performance. What really got the crowd going was when Ricardo held Karen by the feet and spun her through the air for a solid ten seconds, her head clearing the floor by only a few centimeters!

By the end of the performance, there was no doubt why the crowd and judges have ranked the salsa duo as champions year after year!

Dancing to the rhythm of their hearts

This dynamic duo is on fire on the dance floor, but this is not just due to hard practice – dancing runs in their blood. When Karen was only six years old, her mother, who was a ballet dancer, encouraged her to take ballet lessons.

But Karen was more intrigued by the rhythmic beats and fast pace that Latin dance styles salsa and merengue had to offer, so she began taking classes at the age of seven and never looked back.

Karen still continues to train professionally in numerous Argentinian dance schools and with various professionals.

Ricardo, on the other hand, shared his passion for dancing with his entire family, who are all inspired by his tango stage dancing grandparents. Ricardo also began training in ballet at the age of seven at the Santiago Municipal Theater until he reached the age of fifteen.

While Latin dancing is a definite love in Ricardo’s heart, he has also received training in contemporary dance, hip hop, and jazz styles.

The dynamic duo begins

The two fiery dancers met in Chile in 2003 and have been dancing together intermittently in various competitions, events, and television shows ever since. But it was in 2009 that the duo made their allegiance official when they competed in their first salsa competition together.
