The 2023 ACM Awards recently took place, with host, the always sensational Dolly Parton unleashing a rock star look that left the audience and viewers online stunned.

Appearing onstage in a long, flowing dress that sprawled across the entire area, a map of the world was on her backlit dress, giving the impression of a world on fire.

It was then removed as Parton performed her single dressed in a sleek black outfit, surrounded by dancers who delivered a passionate, and fittingly blazing choreography.

Parton had previously teased that “World on Fire” would be the lead single.

She captured the spirit of the song perfectly with her impressive performance onstage.

If you listen closely, it’s seemingly a cautionary tale of a world caught up in lies, and how it will continue to burn down around us without proper change.

“Now I ain’t one for speaking out much
But that don’t mean I don’t stay in touch
Everybody’s trippin’ over this or that
What we gonna do when we all fall flat”

What do you think Dolly’s going on about there?

It’s a really catchy, bang your head and rock out song meant to promote her forthcoming, first rock album, “Rockstar.”

Parton said she was “very inspired” while writing the new track.

“I think it speaks about everything and to everyone this day and time,” she said. “I hope it is something that will touch you and maybe touch enough people to want to make a change for the better.”

Her new 30-track rock album, which comes out on Nov. 17, will feature 9 original songs with 21 iconic rock covers.

It will also feature collaborations with star-studded musicians including Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, Lizzo, Sting, Chris Stapleton, Debbie Harry, Elton John, John Fogerty, Joan Jett, Steven Tyler, Peter Frampton and many more.

Parton will be covering classics like “Every Breath You Take,” “Baby, I Love Your Way,” “Heart of Glass,” “Purple Rain” and “We Are the Champions.”

And if this performance was meant to assure us that she can rock with the best of them, then consider us sold!

With lyrics like,

“I don’t know what to think about us
When did we lose in God we trust
God Almighty, what we gonna do
If God ain’t listenin’ and we’re deaf too.”

Dolly’s certainly got something to say about the world today.

It’s different when someone famous speaks out about where the world, and society in general, is headed nowadays.

Now Parton is 77, and she’s had quite the career, so why has she suddenly gone to rock?

It was last year’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction that pushed her.

Parton wanted to decline the Rock Hall nomination but they explained to her that the induction was because of her overall influence on the culture of the rock and roll generation.

She’s influenced so many people.

So when she accepted the honor, Parton said it was only right that she’d record a rock album if inducted.

This song launches Parton in to the rock and roll atmosphere with its catchy beat and impressive melody.

She still knows how to stop crowds and command the stage!
