While mainstream culture is youth-obsessed, growing older can be a blessing for some.
You become firm in your own point of view and sense of self.
You stop trying to please and live for others and are just happy being you while avoiding all the nonsense that would stop you from doing otherwise.

Take Dick Van Dyke for example. Dude is 96 years old, has a hot wife, and is still dancing around in music videos.
DailyMail recently published an exclusive story on the fact that he was in “an upbeat mood” while leaving lunch in L.A. with a friend.
When asked by the press what his plans were for Father’s Day he replied, “Oh my gosh, is that Sunday?”

Van Dyke hinted that he didn’t have anything big planned.
“I’m just glad to still be here,” Van Dyke said before jumping in his car to run some errands.
Van Dyke does try and maintain a youthful look and spirit by singing and dancing every day.

He also attributes his longevity to “good genes and not getting hit by a bus.” Apparently, that youthful glow also comes from spray tanner which he was seen buying a can of.
“I’ve always been an exerciser and I still am. I go to the gym three days a week, get in the pool, and exercise,” he told Closer Weekly. “At my age, they say to keep moving. Put me on solid ground and I’ll start tapping!”

Van Dyke has seven grandchildren and four children with his ex-wife Margerie Willet.
The two married in 1948 on the radio show “Bride and Groom” and divorced 36 years later.
He lived with longtime companion Michelle Triola Marvin who passed away in 2009 for 30 years then married Arlene Silver in 2012.

Van Dyke is known for his work on the big and small screen. He, of course, was the star of “The Dick Van Dyke Show.”
He’s appeared in movies like “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” and “Mary Poppins” along with loads of others.
Van Dyke also served in the U.S. Army during World War II and is an Oscar away from EGOT status. Someone with an EGOT has an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony award.

Most recently, he and his wife released a cover of Richard Adler and Robert Allen’s “Everybody Loves a Lover,” a song popularized by Doris Day.
Their music video featured Vantastix, a barbershop trio, and trumpet player Tony Guerrero.

“I love to harmonize, so that keeps me going,” he said. “It’s kind of my retirement amusement. I don’t play golf. I have more fun singing and dancing.”

One thing that’s never changed about Van Dyke as he entered retirement is his sense of humor.
“Hi, I’m what’s left of Dick Van Dyke,” he says in a video on Instagram where he’s referred to as “Mr. Vandy.”
You’ll always see him cracking his jokes with that old Van Dyke charm.
