Being in hospital can be a seriously tense experience. Whether you’re in there because of your ailments, a loved one’s, or you’re practicing medicine there yourself, the atmosphere can often be one that can put you on edge and keep you there. The bottom line is; nobody wants to be there, unless you’re passionate about helping others. Occasionally though, something can happen that can brighten everyone’s days and make their experience that much more pleasant.

You don’t have to be a remarkable doctor to make a difference to someone’s hospital experience.

In fact, you don’t even have to work there.

She’s a serious pianist, beyond her years.

It’s clear after watching Diane for even the briefest amount of time that she is by no means a casual pianist. This girl obviously has swathes of talent in regards to music theory, but is she really that remarkable in practice?

The many passers-by would probably say yes!

People who were just passing by, minding their own business either on their way to see their loved one, get their ex-rays or clock in for the day were stopped in their tracks. We can imagine that as they approached they heard her beautiful music emanating from the piano, but were shocked to see such a young talent perched at the keys.

Her repertoire is diverse, and her transitions, seamless.

Starting off by playing Beyoncé’s “Halo”, she brings a quiet instrumental beauty to one of the hottest pop songs in the diva’s set-list. That’s Beyoncé being the diva, not Diane mind you! It’s clear that if Diane is anything, it’s humble. With expert timing, she eases out of Halo, and begins Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep”, before slowing once again and tapping her way rhythmically into the Pirates of the Caribbean main theme. That’s a diverse lineup!

You know how most musicians, even the pros read from sheet music?

The scratchy gibberish that takes musicians years to learn how to read? And even then, they’re unable to play without being able o read he piece they’re playing? Well, it turns out, some players don’t even need it….

All Diane needs is a few small notes.

I’m not sure what Diane had written on those notes, but I’m pretty sure it’s not just tiny sheet music! This kid is so talented that she seems to be able to play such complete melodies with as little as a few handwritten notes.

Before long, she attracts quite the crowd.

It doesn’t take long at all for all sorts of hospital-goers to stop, watch and record Diane do what she does best. Whether they’re poised on a cane, in a wheelchair or simply strolling past, they take the time to stop and admire her skill. What a bright young talent that is put to use making strangers’ days better!
