Derek and Julianne Hough are two incredible dancers who just happen to be siblings!
Derek and Julianne grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah with their parents and three other sisters. Dancing is in their blood—their grandparents were all dancers, and their parents met on a ballroom dancing team.
The siblings started dancing when they were young, and when Derek was 12 and Julianne was 10, their parents sent them to London for further training. Derek, Julianne, and their friend Mark started a pop music group called 2B1G, and they performed all over the UK and the US.
As Derek and Julianne got older, they both continued to have successful dancing careers.
Derek joined the show Dancing with the Stars, and he acted as a coach for many different celebrities. He has also acted in numerous movies and TV shows.
Julianne also found success in reality TV dance competitions. She was also on Dancing with the Stars, and she and her partners won the show multiple times.
Derek and Julianne also enjoyed dancing with each other, and so in 2014, they decided to go on a nationwide tour together.
They performed in venues across the United States, and many of the venues sold out. Since the tour was so successful, they decided to do another nationwide tour in 2015. But before they left Los Angeles, they stopped by “The Ellen Show” to perform a song.
Derek and Julianne began their incredibly energetic performance by walking through the audience. They pumped the crowd up as they walked, telling them to get ready to move.
Then, Derek and Julianne began showing off their dance moves. They each did a solo dance, and then they joined each other for a duet. As they danced, the crowd clapped and cheered. The crowd loved watching these two do what they were best at!
Derek and Julianne finished their performance, and the crowd clapped as loud as they could.
Ellen told the pair they did a fantastic job. Then, she asked them more about the tour.
“This is what we want you guys to feel,” Julianne said. “The energy. We go out there, we get people up and moving and dancing.”
The video of Derek and Julianne dancing on “The Ellen Show” went viral, receiving over 11 million views. Everyone was amazed by these siblings’ moves!
Derek and Julianne have been keeping busy over the past few years. In 2017, Derek joined the reality show World of Dance as a judge. Derek also acted in numerous TV shows and movies.
Julianne has also begun acting more, and she starred in the remake of Footloose. In 2019, she joined America’s Got Talent as a judge.
